Mostly in that last picture you can see the highest tom and the hats were interfering with each other pretty horribly, so I did a little brainstorming with the hardware I had and....

Now everything's in a more comfortable position even if it looks a bit odd at first glance. The hats are still kinda close to the highest tom but I only bash em on accident if I'm being rather careless with my playing anyways.

Old thread with older pictures for comparison:

I have the same sizes and have them set up this way with the ride cymbal over the 12 inch tom a bit. Maybe move your toms to the right a bit and get some room by your hats.

I'm a pretty short guy, and I thought about that but I'm thinking I'm so short that doing that might defeat the entire purpose of this shift... to get my ride in a little closer to the front of me rather than almost directly to my right. I originally had it where most people with a 4-piece nowadays put their ride which is where problems came in.

I might try that sometime as your setup looks quite comfortable, it just might be a little too high for tiny me... lol

Very nice kit!

another idea would be having just your 8", 10" toms in front of you and have your 12" as a floor tom or something. (pic below).

I considered doing that but wrote that off really fast because I really prefer 3-up to 2-up for sure... Maybe if space ends up being an issue or I end up sharing my kit at a show for those who want something more "traditional" I suppose.

One more try:

Much more comfortable than I anticipated.... Now I just need some new cymbals to replace those manhole covers :3 lol
