Very nice looking kit. You seem to get a new one every year whether you need one or not. I just need to run a class to show everyone how to set their toms so that the drum and badge is showing instead of the mounts and hardware. I would rather see the beautiful shells.

Haha, you are obsessed with badges Sticks :p

Lovely kit btw OP, stunning. A hex rack and a clear snare batter? Two things you don't see much of...

I know, I know. I would rather look at the drum shell than a mount any day of the week. Isn't that why we buy the drums. To show them off, and to see them. :)

Personally, I buy them to play them ...
I just knew someone was going to say that. How about, "why we buy our drums in a particular finish". So looks don't play a part in your drums at all? Come on now. We hear it all the time on these sites, "I love your finish"

Beautiful finish, gorgeous drums. These kits are starting to look like elite pieces of furniture! The finishes and wood grains are just stunning. Enjoy that kit man, she's a beauty!

Lovely kit! I'm also debating putting clear heads on my toms so I can see that rich red bubinga wood....

You cant see the bubinga interior because you are using coated heads?.

Hmmm?...What a shame. ;)

Yeah, hard to switch when you dig the sound of coated but worth a try if you dont have say...14 drums...lol.
Worth a try if you only have a few. You gotta try it with clears for at least one set of heads anyway. Why not now?.
I say go for it.

By the way, that Tama SC in the original post is mind blowingly beautiful!.

Oh c'mon man! This is just plain pornography!
Aren't there any rules on this forum?

lol. Now seriously, congrats for the amazing kit. Really really beautiful.

Cheers.

First of all great looking kit!! Gotta love the Tama Bubingas. So how many kits do you have nowadays? Great cymbal setup too, 2oo2s are stellar pies.

Personally I'd prefer to have a comfortable, semi-ergonomic kit than one with exposed badges. I think most drummers think this way and honestly why would it matter?

Do it! A while back I switched from coated heads to clear and with enough tinkering around with tuning I was able to satisfy my ears as well as my eyes! :)

To be honest, if everyone looking at my kit is looking at the shells and badges, I'm not doing my job right. The only people that care about these things are other drummers and there aren't that many of them who particularly care, either. If you want to set your drums up so that all the badges are showing, then you have far too much time on your hands and the priorities are all wrong.

That is a beautiful Tama though, all the same. It doesn't matter that I can't see the badges - it's a Tama.

I've always loved a nice Tama kit, own two myself. Yours is a particularly nice specimen. Love the natural finish. Bubinga burl is so nice that I kind of cringe when I see someone cover it up with dark lacquer. Great choice!

This is akin to someone seeing me and my cameras and proclaiming, "your photographs must be awesome".....

I continue to buy cameras, but my pictures never look good...

Maybe I need to tell everyone I've got a Pentax?!

You have stolen my kit sir! I will not call the police if you overnight ship it back to me. I will PM you a rural location to ship it to. Thank you and make it snappy.
