My New (to me) Tama Superstars

Brings back so many memories of seeing Dave Grohl's kit back in the 90s as a kid and always wondering how the hell I would see the audience with rack toms that large. Haha. Awesome kit :)

Those are massive! Aha, I'd hate playing that kit. But I like small drums--I'd want to convert that 15x14 into a bass drum.

Regardless, nice score! They definitely look great.

That's one big ass tom tom.

Suspension mount that sucker.

.

How come you mounted another bass drum on top of your bass drum - LOL

Those drums are some real monsters.

THESE DRUMS ARE HUGE!!!

First off awesome kit Err, I'm creating the same kit myself, identical to the setup Grohl generally used (though not finished yet). About the kit, it's a mix of Artstar II series shells ranging from 1986 to 1989. The snare is a 1979 9800 series 'Superstar' 14"x8" 8ply/8mm Birch. The shells are 15"x14", 18"x16" (9ply/7mm) and 24"x16"(9ply/9mm) Canadian hard rock maple.

I hear you when you said it was impossible to find Artstar II shells!, the pieces were extremely difficult to piece together, it took me two years of extensive web searching, along with countless bidding wars on many different auction sites to gather the the 'simple' four pieces, but nothing is impossible. The tom was from the US, the snare was from Sweden, and the bass and floor were direct from Japan. And then the rare three HC104TB stilt stands along with the MTH300 tom holder were another headache to source. But here it is.
