24k Gold HW Lovers - Here's my baby...

Not really new here, but I don't believe I've posted on this particular forum before. So I'll start off my first post by showing off my newest drum kit.

I've been a 'Yamaha guy' for the past 20+ years, and last year when I decided to have my "Dream Kit" made for me, I went out and sampled all the major manufacturer's offerings. I was VERY surprised after all my research, to realize that Pearl was the way to go (for ME). I've never been a Pearl lover, but after seeing the quality in their Reference line, the customization possibilities in their Masterworks line, and their willingness to work with me on the custom nature of my kit - they won me over completely. I still have other kits that I love, and those manufacturers continue to make excellent gear, as well. But my new Pearl is everything I ever wanted in a drum kit. I hope you enjoy looking at it as much as I do.)

2009 Pearl Reference / Masterworks in Wine Red finish with 24K Gold Hardware (drums and stands).

14x5.5 Snare ***Masterworks 10-ply 2Birch/6Maple/2Birch
22x18 Kick (Reference)
22x18 Kick (Ref)
16x16 Floor Tom (Ref)
14x14 Floor Tom (Ref)
12x8 Rack Tom (Ref)
10x8 Rack Tom (Ref)
8x8 Rack Tom (Ref)
6x7 Rack Tom ***Masterworks in Reference specs. This is the first ever 6" hybrid shell (maple/birch) drum manufactured by Pearl. It came with Pearl's SuperHoop II's, but I've placed diecast hoops on it. After seeing mine, I know a few people that also have ordered one for themselves...including a Pearl endorsed artist***

Drum Rack is an older Pearl DR-110. It also has an upper tier that I haven't used with this setup.

I have actual full stands in all 24K gold, should I ever decide to go rackless. For now, though, I prefer the clean look of the rack.

All hardware/stands are Pearl, except for DW 9000 series pedals, HiHats, and Remote HiHats.

I've never liked gold (in general, not just drums), but Wow. That looks _literally_ heavenly.

Holy crap dude, what a beautiful sight to behold. You've got more pedals than a church organ!
Really beautiful kit, finish, everything.
Let's hear them!

PS what's the deal w/ the gold record on the wall? Tell tell!

I really don't know where to start. It's just, amazing.

That is one of my favorite kits on the forum! Love the gold hardware!

Need more porn, and cymbal Specs!

-Jonathan

Gorgeous..... wow... prob. my favorite kit in the whole site...

Thanks, everybody, for such nice comments.)

I'm pretty sure the cymbals here, are as follows:

22" Paragon Ride
18" AA Metal-X Crash
16" AA Metal-X Crash
16" AAX Dark Crash
14" AAX-plosion Crash
18" AAX China
14" AA Rock HiHats (main)
14" AAX Stage HiHats (remote)
10" AAX Splash
10" AA Splash
8" AAX Splash

And here's one more angle...

Wow!

Never liked Pearl myself... but man, thats one hell of a good looking set up.

I assume you play jazz?? :)

That is one hell of a kit man, shall we switch kits?? :)

Bram

LOL...I have no idea what your kit might be, but I'm perfectly happy with my new baby. ;-) ***EDIT: You have quite a nice little Gretsch there...but I still won't trade. ;-) ***

I actually used to play with a few jazz ensembles in high school and my early adulthood (the late-80's thru mid-90's). My roots, though, are in 70's progressive rock (Rush, Yes, Kansas, Yes, Styx, etc.). Fun stuff. But I guess it's fair to say that I dabble in just about everything these days.)

Thats wild!
So are there referance floor drums and all masterworks rack toms? Nice mix.
I'm surprised how much I like the superhoops mixed with the die casts. I think pearl needs to step up and produce OPTA's for smaller diameter drums. With two diameter OPTA's they would have all the bases covered. And the tiny tom's are only getting more popular I think. One size for 6 to 10 and another for the rest would work.
I have to ask what the roland hat pedal is doing there. I find mine to be more suited to driving nails then controlling hats. I have it tweaked so it works somewhat I suppose.
But holy crap man that kit belongs in a museum. It's that beautifull.

the reflective light does make it look heavenly.

and why the gold record???

Thanks, Jim.

Pearl does actually offer Optimounts for smaller toms - my 6" is mounted via an Optimount. Pearl doesn't offer 6" diecast hoops - nobody does - but I found some after tireless searching and had them 24K gold plated, and then put them on my 6". I do prefer the Super Hoops in that tom, though. But now I have both types of hoops, so I can choose to match them with the rest of the kit if I want.

All my drums are Reference series, except for the 6" tom and my snare (which are both Masterworks).

Thanks again, for the nice comments!)

Wow, I thought my DWs in Ebony satin with gold hardware was the most blinging kit on the forum... I've just been upstaged. Awesome looking set man, loving the red against the gold, and nice to see you going the extra mile and getting all gold hardware as well!

I need to steal your hardware for my kit.
