PureRock's Tama Superstar Hyperdrive w/Video Tour

Here it is! Where is the Yamaha MCAN Blue Sparkle you might ask? I had to sell it, basically to do a downgrade. I needed to free up some funds, but I still needed a kit to play. I picked up this Tama Superstar Hyperdrive for $499.99 at Musician's Friend. KILLER DEAL!

This kit absolutely blows my mind at the sound, the build quality and the features for the price. Of course $499.99 is a crazy sale price, but even for the regular sale price, these are awesome kits.

I have no problems with this downgrade whatsoever. They exceed my expectations by a long shot.

Specs:

Dark Desert Burst Finish w/black nickel hardware

24x18 bass drum
12x7 rack tom
16x14 floor tom
14x6.5 snare drum

All stock heads for now
Kept all my Yamaha hardware

I will be getting a 18x16 floor tom to add on eventually.

New heads will be Coated Emperors over Clear Ambassadors on the toms, Clear PS3 over Fiberskyn or Ebony PS3 or Ambassador on the bass, Coated Emperor over Ambassador Snare Side on the snare.

Shot with my Nikon D90, 18-200 VR lens, ISO 400, built-in mic

Beautiful set, I really dig that finish and the sizes. Nice bike too :)

Great vid and pics nice playing too. I am thinking about getting one of these but i not sure if the rack tom depth will allow the rack toms to go low enough for me.

As in low in pitch? Depth has nothing to do with pitch, its all diameter. Depth has more of an influence on sustain and resonance.

If you are talking about positioning, I'm quite certain 10x6.5 and 12x7 are shallow enough to position anywhere. Mind you, the 12x7 on my kit is over a 24x18 bass, which feels quite a bit higher than a tom over a 22" bass.
