Ludwig Classic Maples

I just returned to my roots going back to Ludwig. It was a process finding a new kit in the price range I wanted but I didn't go wrong with my choice.

I was previously using Ddrum maple Dominions. Not bad drums for the money. When it came to there dealers no one knew anything or wouldn't return my call about purchasing a kit. No more Ddrums for me......

Thanks to my somewhat local drum shop "Dales Drum Shop" for helping me pick out all options on my kit which was a breeze.

My Ludwig Classic maples are absolutely beautiful ! 16x26, 14x16 and 8x12 in red sparkle. These drums sound amazing and incredibly huge live when mic'd.

Welcome to Drummerworld. Beautiful kit.
I drive a 30 year old Luddy kit, 26x16, 13x9, 16x16, 18x16. Long live "thunder" drums.

Nice drums and Dale's is a very smart place to buy. I was there this past weekend getting some hardware.

beautiful is RIGHT. congrats. question: what is that hazy resonant head on the 26" bass drum ? looks really cool.

congrats.

good gawd that's GORGEOUS!!!

timeless.

I don't think you would get sick of that kit... ever.

I've been mauling around with the idea of going with Ludwigs for my next kit lately... think you just pushed me over the edge.

again, congrats.

Gorgeous!! Congrats!

I'm almost done paying off my Gold Sparkle Classic Maples. That bass drum must sound thunderous!!!

Beauty ! 16x26 kick so cool as is Red Sparkle...I just read the "Ludwig vs GMS" (Is it GMS ?) thread and Ludwig Classic Maple drums not only look and sound amazing but It still seems like incredible value...Lots of bang for your buck and that is very good too...Uh huh...

Awesome kit! What type of bass drum cymbal arm is that ? The arm doesen't look like a stock ludwig. I like how it is short to make the ride at a nice height. Mine positions the cymbal higher.

The bass drum mounted cymbal arm is a DW model 770 short arm. They make them in short and standard lengths.

It is the DW 770S. I took it apart and made it even shorter and swapped the tilter out on another piece of DW hardware I had.

My stands are PDP pacific 900 series. Basically the same thing as the DW 9700 for a lot less money. I changed all booms to the DW tilters. I have $90 into each stand vs the $150 they want for a DW 9700. I really can't justify 150 for a cymbal stand unless your rich and have all kinds of money to blow.

Normally, I'm not a huge fan of the way Ludwig drums look, but these just look...

Good.

That bass drum appears to be gigantic. And the maple shells must sounds fantastic too.

Not to mention the Paistes. Geez, you have good taste.

I hope you enjoy this kit for a long time!
