Most Embarrassing Arguments You've Made...

I was driving in the car a few years ago and there was a song from Elvis on, VIVA LAS VEGAS. My youngest son said he was singing it wrong. He said its suppost to be VIVA VIAGRA. Gotta love kids.

young kids who don't know who Kreator, Slayer, Exodus, etc. are

for the person living under a large rock...

Green Day are a punk/rock band formed in East Bay, California in 1987.
They have 8 studio albums and a greatest hits.

Speaking of Green Day, I admit I am completely embarrassed I carried on in an argument with some dumbass who was seriously convinced Tre Cool sucks at drums. Not just sucks, but that he can't keep a beat. Thinking back to that argument makes me doubt the overall intelligence of the human race. I can't stand this person, largely because of the fact even said something so stupid.

when I was about 11 I argued that weezer was WAY better than the beatles.
I also went through a dragonforce phase, I can't even think of something i'd want to hear less right now then through the fire and the flames...

How do they think they know what thrash metal is, but have never heard any of it? Is thrash metal a label you attach to things to make them better?
No but nicely guessed

Thrash "or speed" metal form of metal created during the 1980's by various bands from the Bay Area, USA and also from overseas.
It took influences from the NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) scene from bands like Tank, Iron Maiden, etc, the punk scene for it's speed and bands like Venom for it's brutality.

It was made up of bands such as Forbidden, Testament Sacred Reich, Exodus, Vio-lence Pestilence... and numerous others but the "Big Four of thrash" were Megadeth, Metallica, Anthrax and Slayer.

"Hey, have you heard anything from Brahms's thrash metal period?" *

1. Johannes Brahms was a Romaticist composer
2. When thrash was created, noone called it "thrash", it was just heavy metal played faster than what had come before.

People who have heard of thrash have only heard one metallica song and think bands like Green day are the same because they're "fast"

I cast my bait, & you bite, lol! You're right about the rock though.
No, you asked a question and I answered.
Not my fault if you can't troll to save your snare hand. ;-) <--- That means I'm messing wit' ya

Wow, what a comprehensive answer to what was actually a rhetorical question...but I appreciate the effort you've gone to!

I do know what thrash metal is, and I do know that Brahms was a romantic composer...I thought it was an amusing juxtaposition.

Not so much an argument as a statement I made...

When I was around 17-18, I told the guys in the punk band I played with that I'd never "slow down" on drums.

I did play with a progressive punk band until about 30, but yeah, when I quit that band, I was called on my never slow down statement.

When the first Queen album was released I excitedly told a drummer friend that there was this drummer who played fills all the way through every song (like that was a good thing). It was because Roger Taylor had his snare tuned low and I thought it was a tom - lol. So he borrowed the album and came back, saying that the drummer played a solid beat pretty well all the time. Duh

Another time I complained to a roadie friend about how Chris Slade didn't play any fills in a song by Manfred Mann's Earth Band. He pointedly replied, "That's because he's a musician". That was humbling ...

Oh man yeah I went through a Dragonforce phase too. I think it was more the fact that I'd never heard the intensity of power metal before and as a result I thought the musicians were Gods. Funny I went to see them live and I've never listened to them since the most boring live act you could watch, everything sounds exactly the same.

On the note of stupid arguments I always got defensive over Judas Priest who are my favourite band of all time, I would argue with people till I was blue in the face that this was the case and that Greenday were absolute cack compared to The Priest (which I still believe) but I grew out of all that arguing bollocks and I would say now that any argument over music comparison is embarrassing and stupid as everyone has different tastes.

The thing is, I had no idea you were being rhetorical.
for all I knew you were being deadly serious and didn't have a clue.

Again, I'm not psychic, I couldn't tell.

Sorry guys, I'm not trying to start wars here, I just did was what asked and what I'm trying to explain to Keep It Simple...
I just saw questions - not attempts to troll or to be rhetorical - just a question and I answered it as best as I can with no knowledge of the two of your backgrounds or musical tastes or whatever... So, any misunderstandings, that should clear it up.

I just thought you guys were going for recursion in a thread about embarrassing arguments.

once upon a time i thought vinne paul was the greatest drummer of all time, i emulated everything he did to the point of hitting as hard as i could and using 2b sticks turned backwards. people often said " dont you think your playing a bit too loud?" to which i replied " vinne does it, so i do it.". needless to say many many broken cymbals and a snare cracked in half later (no word of a lie a pearl forum wood snare split completly in half from hitting to hard) i learned they maybe might have been right. i just thought the gear i was buying was crap and just couldnt stand up to ultra awesome vinne style pounding.
