What is a good rock snare that is wood? And would the yamaha musashi be any good for rock?

Yes, the Musashi is good for rock. As is any snare, with correct heads, tuning, and playing touch.

If wood is not a hard-and-fast requirement, pick up an Acrolite and have a blast.
 
The Musashi oak can tune to play any genre! It is an amazing snare in my book! I love mine to death... I tune the bottom pretty tight and midrange on the top and it sounds superb! I've used it for jazz, funk, fusion, gospel, rock, etc.
 
In that price range, a pre-owned Ludwig classic maple is great if you are looking for wood. Stave shell wood is great for rock, but we are in a whole new price range. Used Ludwig Epic is another good choice.
