Weekend Recording!

So over the Easter long weekend I laid down some drum tracks for my new band. Though really, when I say band, I mean me and my friend Blake. We're doing something a little different and keeping it to a two-piece line up, him on guitar, keyboard and vocals and myself on the drums and backup vocals. We're throwing together some demos at the moment to help us define our sound and to later include with a press kit. Stylistically we're something along the lines of Dead Weather meets The Killers, but with a stripped back sound.

It's actually been really fun just jamming with one other person as opposed to a full band. Blake and I are on the same wavelength a lot of the time and things seem to flow very naturally. Anyway, onto to the pictures and specs!

The kit is a DW Collector's in Ebony Satin Oil with gold hardware, the sizes I'm using here are:

8" roto tom
10x9 rack
14x12 floor
16x12 floor
22x18 bass drum

Snares are:

14x7 DW X-Shell (this baby is my go to)
14x5 Brady 10 ply Jarrah snare
14x5.5 Pearl Jimmy Degrasso (which has been altered with black nickel diecast hoops and tube lugs)
10x6 Metro Jarrah block snare

Cymbals left to right:

20" HHX China
14" HHX X-Celerator Hats
18" AAX X-Plosion Crash or HHX Evolution Crash
10" HHX Splash
21" HHX Dry Ride (soon to be replaced with a 22" Omni)
19" AAX Xplosion Crash
18" A Custom Projection Crash stacked ontop a 20" Bosphorus Traditional China for a very brash white-noise effect

Finally, I use a Pearl El Negro Bella Cowbell, along with a Pearl Eliminator kick and a DW5000 Hihat stand.

Enjoy the picture fest!

Wow, wobbling china!
Nice kit. Especially like the roto-tom. Bet you can come up with some cool fills. Is that your idea?
Want to hear the band! :)

I can't believe you don't have the drumdice cymbal toppers..... ;)

If only I was that blingin...

And yes, my poor HHX china has received some rather hard blows over the years, but I have to say it's still holding up fine! Paper thin edge on them though, you can bend them with your hands so no wonder it's a little out of shape..

Let me start off by saying thank you for including cases in your first shot. Cases are the most under appreciated pieces of equipment we have. Your kit looks fantastic with the gold hardware, and I am digging the 18 Fat Beat hhs.
