Musical Vagaries

Got a call the other day. My mate's band has a problem. Their bass player has broken his leg on holiday and they need a sub. I happen to play bass and said yes.

I've been meaning to learn an arbitrary list of songs for ages. I'm still waiting for the absolute go-ahead on the gig but the band leader is quite convinced that the regular bass player won't make it. He's back from holiday on Monday so I might know better by then.

Thanks Mike. I'm following the standard advice. Writing up chord charts, changes and structures. If all else fails I'll have the root notes there so I can blast through and the band leader and the lead guitarist has said that's ok. They know it's a big ask!
