YOUR ultimate kit!

I've just been on the SJC kit builder and played around with a few things and came up with these so far (that is, if i've uploaded the pictures correctly).

An acrylic/wood/acrylic hybrid SJC set of varying sizes.

Maple DW Collectors series with all sortsa stuff. For either kit, DW 9000 hardware is a must.

In terms of cymbals i'd be happy with the Zildjians shown or Meinl MB20 and Byzance.

The Zildjians on there are 15" A Mastersounds.
16" Z3 rock crash.
21" A Sweet Ride.
19" A Custom Medium Crash.
18" Oriental "Trash" China.

tell me yours too!
xoxo

That looks damn fine, man. I've never really considered black sparkle finish but it actually looks great!

I wished that Truth had some sort of kit builder on their site, i love their stuff so far and SJC don't do custom snare builders in particular.

Not to be snarky, but can you help me understand the appeal of Truth drums? I get that they assemble nice drums with nice finishes. But they are just Keller shells, with hardware that can be found anywhere on the web and which can be assembled by virtually anyone for half the cost. I just don't understand, it's not like they sound any better than any other Keller....

Of course vintage equivalents of any of those cymbals would be preferred.

Nice kit, DSCRAPRE. It's very similar to mine actually. Only difference is the depths and my 1st floor is a 14x15 instead of your 14x16. Oh, and mine aren't DW, but close enough). Other than that...

Only thing I might suggest is you have that 18" ft hanging out there all by itself... seems like a good place for another crash, like maybe a 19" K Custom Hybrid or an A Custom Crash?

Well in my opinion, the majority of a drums sound comes from the heads and their tuning. Shells would only make a noticeable difference when they are completely contrasting materials like Mahogany and Acrylic or Brass and so on.

So for me, i chose the Truth and SJC's because of the finishes and all the different options you can have on them. Plus i love purple.

Oh yeah, I guess that an extremely washy K ride would be nice for crashing, Zak Starkey style!

And heads make the kit so I'd have Remo Controlled Sounds on everything with Ambassador Resos.

i will just say rather than have a pic.....i also hope to get this kit in 2010 :)

4 piece kumu, deep walnut with matching hoops......image of snare in those settings...http://www.kumu.fi/english/snare/snares064.html

14x5.5 12x8 14x14 20x16

istanbul agop sig 22" 18" 15"hats (maybe not get the 18"crash and go with another ride, depends on the music that i'm going to be playing)

if it happens, it will be godly!

This is my ultimate kit.

Alas, mhave specialized Apachee code on the server and as such makes it so photos can not appear on other URL top domains (read: others stealing my bandwidth). So here are links to photos and it truly is a dream system because if i wanted more, friankly and humbly said, it would be here:

NOTE: you might have to click REFRESH on your browser after going the the above URL if the images does not show the first time around. Again, i use coe to keep bandwidth theives at bay)

And yes, still want more yet need to get a custom cage made for adding overhead items, etc (like Terry Bozzio per se).

That's really all I want. Nothing ridiculous.

1. Yeah, that was the same with mine. I just selected the most expensive Gretsch kit I could get in my area, as opposed to the mid-high range kit I have selected to buy currently. I added a few cymbals, too.

2. I don't like ridiculous kits. I think it's simply because I don't play a variety of stuff large enough to warrant having over 9000 drums and cymbals.

While my 2nd ultimate kit would be contradictory to what im about to say, im going to say it anyways: I agree with you. To be honest, my favorite drum setup is a 5-6 piece, one or two up and two down. I like options, but not too many. besides, my drumming has been raised in simplicity: for lessons, all i use is a hi-hat and a ride. my first kit would be more akin to a kit i would use when i get one. Really the second kit is just a fooling around kit, a satire of 80's hair metal (or metal in general) if you will.

Part of my thing is I don't listen to any music that warrants more than, TOPS, four toms. Even that's a stretch, I can get by with a five piece plenty.

Now, cymbals are another story. I do love accenting, although most of my cymbal numbers come from my desire to be able to hit the crashes with both left and right hands. And I really do think any drummer who rides on the crash during the chorus of songs should have a second one just to accent beats.
