Bot my new 24' X 24' rehearsal room!

My wife bought a 2,100 sq ft office for her business so the 24' X 24' room is all mine! NOW I can have people over to jam night and day, and I can practice as long and loud as I want to all day! She makes the big bucks, I concentrate on my two in-studio bands and can still have time to jam with myriad guest musicians here in Nashville TN 24/7! Woooo-Hoooo!

That's my 6th Century Scottish Family Coat Of Arms on the 26" head. I've got 2 more 20" crashes and 2 more 16" crashes and an 8" splash.

All Cymbals are a mix of older sweet Avedevis Zildgians and newer 90's Zildgians.... Probably just add my Gibraltar rack and make all THAT happen!

That Piccolo snare drum I hand built, using a 10 ply Kenner shell I found in an alley, sanded and refinished in Maple to match my kit, used a simple P-80 strainer, Pearl hoops, and the aluminum lugs I turned on a lathe a the aircraft hanger I used to work at (We build flying 1930's replicas for national air shows) What a full tonal CRACK this drum has!!! :)

Can I have your life? It's better than mine lol

When I saw 24x24 I initially thought it was your bass size haha

What kit is that by the way? I can't figure it out.

You lucky bugger! I'd like to take this opportunity to say that I think your kit is absolutely stunning, and that bass reso is pretty killer as well.

Seems like you're well off in the drum department!

Now you just gotta treat the room :) Looks like a kinda low ceiling, but a pretty good size.

The ceiling is 14' Probably just my cheap old Sony Cyber-Shot camera angle...It's the room above the garage...

THE ROOF SLANTS UP FROM 6' TO 14' AND THEN BACK DOWN TO 6'. THE DIMENSIONS OF THE ROOM ARE 24' X 24'.

It's a Ludwig Bonham Zep re-issue. I found it on CL for $600. drums and hard cases. Lord knows I have stands and racks galore, so I scooped 'em up pronto! :))

I actually played a 32' X 14" bass drum. Probably a Symphony Bass drum, but I got it for $200 so what the hey...Slingerland 1930. Only problem with the larger bass drums is that the beater can't reach center-head...the 'sweet' spot on any drum...I still have it.

I also played a 1918 28" X 14" Leedy bass drum that I refinished in Curly maple...but again...that 'sweet spot'...I purchased this for $20 and it was PINK! LOL. Anyway, I wrapped the two Rogers rack toms, the 28" bass drum, and the 16 X 18 floor in Curly maple. I still have these drums. The three Rogers toms were given to me when I joined a band in Brooklyn in '73. We went on to record in Jimi Hendrix'' Electric Lady Studios...I actually just got a hold of some 1/4" reel to reel's from the band. I'll transpose to CD and post some of our music. We opened up for Mountain in 1973 and later on for Grand Funk Railroad. I initially thought the masters (From 1" reel-to-reel) were lost. But I found my old keyboard players wife on FB and she sent me the spools of tape. Sadly I learned that JR, her husband passed from a massive heart attack 7 years ago...and by my gentle prompting, she found the 1/4" re-dubs in her attic. YOU RULE FRAN!...R.I.P JR. Your Hammond B-3 and Leslie cabinets sent me to another world. I miss ya' man!

1930 32" Slingerland on left. 1918 28" Leedy on right. I also wrapped those fabulous Rogers toms in Curly maple and re-drilled. They used to be black.
This photo was taken at Graham Nash's old studio on Sunset Blvd. in LA. Crossroads Of The World where I was recording drum tracks for a 30 song Rock Opera with Bing Crosby's nephew.

Thanks! Probably a matter of being in the right place at the right time...nothing more. Luck of the draw really... :)

I dig it--rehearsal space that's a deductible "business expense" for your wife. ;-) Well done.

And I dig the COA as well.

I hate you and may you burn in hell.
Seriously though, congrats on the awesome new rehearsal space (not to mention the rich wife).
I nearly went with putting the family crest on my bass drums too- looks great!

Hahahaha! Thanks!

Actually I didn't even KNOW what my Family crest was. After we got married my new wife and I went to Vegas for our honeymoon..so since we don't gamble or drink, we spent time just shopping for clothes etc. Well. One of the shops we went to had computerized family history research programs...This was in 2001...so my wife said "You're mostly Scot. I bet you have a great Family Coat Of Arms Crest"...So I plunked down $5 and got the result! I had the crest magnified 10X at a local print shop when we got home and had them make a decal.

So, A little spray adhesive and Viola! My personal logo!

I get a lot of compliments on it, and my bands don't force the issue with pasting the band name(s) on my 26" bass drum head. ;-)

Re: Got my new 24' X 24' rehearsal room!

FINALLY! I have my own rehearsal room here at home! Who woulda' thunk?!? Let's see. Monster PA? Check. Decent drummer? PERFECT LUDWIG BONHAM LED ZEPPELIN DRUM KIT!?! Check. GREAT lead guitarist/Vocalist? Check. Great bassist/Vocalist? Double Check. Great lead Singer/Songwriter? CHECKMATE!! I'm so priviledged to be part of all this. Thanks to my sweet wife for getting the hell out of here and into her new offices...and giving me my new rehearsal room. THANKS SWEETIE!
