Show Me Your "Monster" Kits! (let's say... 7 piece and up)

Wow, there's some cool stuff going on and I have to hand it to you guy's.....because there's NO WAY I would want to haul that kind of gear anymore!!!!
YIKES! I did it for a long time with the "I don't care, this is what I play" but I couldn't do it anymore, even though my van would easily carry it.

I'll stick with my measly 20x26" bass drum and 3 floor toms now....4 ft's and an extra set of mini hats (in the pic's) kicked it over the edge for me last year.

I'm back to a 6 piece--one less than the 7 pieces needed for the "man" set-up...oh well...maybe the bass drum can make up for some of it.

...Hello Karl.

Good to see you on the board again. We must be hanging out on different ends of the forum.

Always love the Ludwig monster porn. Those drums of yours look like a stealth bomber on the "Uh Oh" run.

Duck and cover kids.

Man, those kits are gorgeous... Specially the silver sparkle one.
What are the specs of this silver monster, if i may ask?

i dig the hot-rodish skull; it really goes well on top of this giant bass drum.

haha masking tape, gotta love it! Sorry about the pitch blacks man :( nice drum pedal anyway.

Haha, yea. I used to have a Gibralter click pad, but after a while it just got majorly torn up, so until my new one gets here, masking tape seemd to do the job.

Thanks

The specs on the Silver Sparkle are;
20x26 bass drum
6.5 snare (various--Brass BB's, Bronze BB, wood, 6.5 Acrolite...)
9x12 tom (there's an 8x12 on the kit now)
13x15 hat side ft
14x16-16x18 floor toms.

Same specs for the RS kit too (with a few other sizes available)

Cymbals are Sabian (and the odd OLD Zildjian's) 24" ride (various models, most have 3 rivets), 15" sizzle hi hats, 19" AA med, or med thin crash, 20" Vault crash, 20" AA Orchestral Suspended, 2-21" custom AAX Chinese w/rivets.

The hot-rod skull "hood ornament" is a tribute to my dad and his brothers that were all race car drivers. They did very well, and were well known in the area (and pretty much all over Michigan in the 50's-early 80's). Lot of fun memories at the race track and pits from when I was a kid.

Even though I wasn't into cars (it was always drums!), I've always thought of my kit as my hot-rod because I was always modifying and making custom hardware parts and stuff to tinker and tweak to make things the way I want for as long as I can remember.

Thanks for the nice words!

Easily the most Rock 'N' Roll kit happening on this thread.

yep, probably weird but it makes it sound super nice :D

ive had a fair few compliments about my drum sounds

one guy even came up to me and goes
"hmm, yamaha rydeen, not such a great kit is it"
i told him to play it
and by the end he was like
"huh yours sounds pretty good though^^"
