Sonor Force 3007

Okay,

I've come to the conclusion that my next kit will either be a Sonor 3007 or a Mapex Pro M

But what im asking today is will the Sonor be appropriate for my playing, I've rang a few drum stores around my area and haven't really got much help.I basically play Rock/Funk/Some Metal (nothing extreme just standard rock really) think RHCP, Incubus, Creed, Alter Bridge and the like, so would the Sonor be a good option or not?

Although I plan on going and 'road testing' both kits and some others before I buy, I just want a brief idea of whether the Sonor would cater to my required sounds.

I'm concerned really because I can't say that I've really seen many Rock drummers using Sonor kits, in my view they seem to have favoured Mapex, DW, Tama and other Hand Crafted or specialist brands, is there a reason they don't go for Sonor?

Thanks

Adam

Sonor makes great kits actually.

The reason why many rock drummers rarely are seen on Sonor is because of all the companies such as Pearl and DW are taking things to the next level.

Look up rockers from the early 90's who used Sonor kits.

As a super huge fan of Sepultura, Igor Cavalera was once sponsored by them, then Mapex and now plays Pearl.

I've played on an early 90's kit, so if they were pretty damn good then, they still make decent kits.

The 3007 comes in about 5 configurations. Check their site for these and check the bass and tom sizes.

Sorry if I gave the wrong impression but I wasn't denying the fact that Sonor make great kits, I just wondered why now so many rock drummers dont use Sonor but you answered my question to that as well :)

Well hopefully i'll be the one to bring Sonor back into the Rock world!

I've had a look at the configurations and I've chosen what I believe to be best for me, but the question was really more about the kits standard sound, as I know alot of kits tend to favour a certain sound and therefore a certain genre of music perhaps, I just wondered if the right sizes were chosen would the kit easily hold up its own in my situation?

Both Gavin Harrison and Derek Roddy play Sonor drums. Although they both play the SQ2 models. Still, two great drummers if you're looking for a Sonor endorsement. As a side note, I had an older Sonor snare that had a great sound.

After I posted this thread I suddenly thought of Gavin Harrison and his kit sounds amazing, obviously its not a Force 3007 but still,

I thought about it some more and realised that Danny Carey uses Sonor and also Phil Rudd.

Are there any general opinions about the Force 3007 kits?

Well, a quick look at Sonor's endorser list shows the following:

Mick Brown - Dokken / Ted Nugent
Danny Carey - Tool
Tommy Clufetos - Rob Zombie
Mikkey Dee - Motorhead
Glenn Kotche - Wilco
John Miceli - Meatloaf
Phil Rudd - AC/DC

But looking at the other endorsers, you'll notice that Sonor's are used in many different genres (and in many different countries).

I haven't used the 3007s, but they look like really good kits to me.

I would say that they don't have deals with drummers from hugely famous rock bands because as soon as say a rock band make it, pearl or DW indeed do generally throw massive amounts of money at the drummer.

i am expecting my 3007's in a month or so, and from what i have heard they have a great tuning range. seriously ditch the stock heads though
