My humble export. I'd say I have pretty much souped to this kit to its maximum potential. Sounds great live especially in the third pic which was taken at The Whisky on Sunset. Sounded great in that venue mic'd up
Why thank you. Just thought I would post and share what I'm working with. After all I've learned a great wealth of information here. So I might as well give back to this awesome community and post and come out of lurking.
I have never seen that finish on an export kit, looks awesome. Now that your done lurking, and showing your kit, you might as well go ahead and give us some specs
22"x18"bass drum, 12"x9" and 14"x11" toms. The snare is a 6.5"x14" Ludwig Black Galaxy Acrolite.
As for cymbals I have an 18" Armand Thin Crash, Paiste 16" Medium Crash, 13" Sabian AAX Fusion Hats, and I got rid of my Zildjian ZXT Ride recently and in a few days I'm getting my 21" Zildjian A Sweet Ride.
As for the people who despise the Exports with the poplar shells, you guys are missing out. I can tune these bad boys and make them sing just throwing on some coated emperors over clear ambassadors. I wish i had a recording.
Sweet kit.
You're right, the Export series are real nice drums.
Mine always sounded good, and trough PA's they always sound just as good or better than some of the $$$ kits at shows.
Some of the finishes on the new Visions series are great too. I just saw a Bubinga finish kit that I swore was real, but it was a wrap. I couldn't believe it, but there was the seam....
It looked great, sounded really good (for the heads that were on it), and the price was crazy.
I have a black galaxy in a 5" depth, it is honestly my fav. snare. As for the pearls, I have heard some pretty good sounds come from exports. Most of the time you see them with bad tom angles and blankets shoved in the bass drum. Its refreshing to see one as clean as yours. Nice pie's too!
