So my George Way "Elkhart" copper 14"x6.5 snare drum arrived today!!! I won this as part of the Modern Drummer Dunnett/Geo.Way Great Snare Drum Giveaway. I could not be happier. I will post some audio and video on Youtube to let yall hear it...but ill tell you now that it sounds awesome...Easily one if not the best snare I have ever played. I cannot tune it bad. It sounded great really high, it sounded great in the medium range, but it sounded out of this world tuned low...and thats how I like it!!!....

So here is the link to my "winning video"

Thanks...Like I mentioned I will be uploading a video worth audio of how it sounds. But again it really is awesome!!! Even with it tuned very low, it has great response and rebound...its like the drum plays itself. Its character is very fat and vintage, dry but has a great ring to it. It really is my ideal snare sound and I couldn't be happier! I want to express my gratitude again to Ronn Dunnett for having such an awesome contest with outstanding prizes.

P.S. I will be uploading bigger and better pics later tonight so stay tuned!

Yeah its unbelievable! I am a customer for life now...for whenever I come across suplemental income or find some loose change I WILL be buying more of his drums!

Congrats nico! Great vid...and great snare drum fo sho!

Is it just an optical illusion in the photo, or are the lugs lower than dead center on the shell?

Hmmmm???...I dunno. Ill have to measure when I get home...probably an illusion though. I surely didnt notice anything like that when I opened it up though ( and I inspected it for quite a while)

Hey what heads do yall think would be the best for this drum?...I was thinking a Fiberskyn Ambassador batter with an Hazy Emperor snare side. I want a somewhat dark, vintage tone and versitle for brush work. Any other suggestions?

wow really nice :)

what was the competition?
your video is great :D

Here was the original thread posted by Dunnett Drums...The Contest consisted to submitting a video to youtube of you playing a Dunnett or George Way drum, or If you didn't have a Dunnett/Way explain why you would like one. There were some very creative entries. You can go to youtube and search for "Dunnett Classic Drums Contest" and be able to see the submissions. There were originally supposed to be 9 snare drums given away, but Ronn had a hard time deciding between submissions so he upped that to 13!!!....

LAWL! Awesome video. "This is a 14x5, U.S. Postal service 10 ply Cardboard Custom." You said that without even a crack!

Haha. Great job. Move to Hollywood. If you can't get a job as a session drummer, you can get some work as a writer for a tv show. Joey

Thanks again for the kind words...and stay tuned I will be posting a video of me playing it within the next few days!
