The black drum is basically a Keystone shell (which normally uses red oak) with Classic lugs (as opposed to Epic/Keystone lugs.)

The Macassar drum looks like a standard Classic Maple snare. They've offered various exotic finishes for some time.

The first drum description says it has die cast hoops but the photo show triple flange.
In fact they both say die cast
 
I noticed the hoop issue too. Guitar Center descriptions have never been terribly trustworthy.

The description says 10 ply. Could that be older 9-ply shells plus the exotic veneer?
for $329,it is calling me.


*EDIT* Just read that all exotics are 10 ply.
