Two brand new ranges. Unfinished shells, straight off the lathe. Still to be sanded, shellac coats, & hard waxed.

New Origin series. Beech & ovangkol segmented - 6mm thick. 20" bass drum, 14"floor tom, 10" tom.

New In-Tense series. English ash segmented - 8mm thick 20" bass drum, 7mm thick 16" floor tom, 6mm thick 12" tom.

Unusual to see segmented kit sizes, unique to see these thicknesses, & how they perform in Origin & In-Tense guise brings completely new sounds to the drum world.

Andy is very excited :)

12 hour round trip drive to pick them up tomorrow, then working 16 hour days to build them up for launch at the Manchester drum show.

Why am I so excited? --- I've played the prototypes :)

Sorry they're only mobile phone shots.

Wow the Ash segmented has a real 3d quality to it!

lovely!
Phew! Just got back now with the shells. M1 was horrendous :(

Anyhow, yes, in the flesh, that 3D quality really grabs you. Somehow, it pops out so much more on a bigger shell. I have the new Origin beech/ovangkol shells with me too. They are just beyond stunning. Can't wait to build them up :)

This is the shell shop facility in Teeside. It's Dean's lair. The big "tubes" in the background are the wood dust extraction filters.

I'm at our finishing shop in Herefordshire, Very different vibe, & of course, much smaller.

"The book" is probably the most valuable thing in those photo's. It's the complete shell build procedures & measurements for all Guru drums :)

Ugly, ugly , ugly as always... lol
Thank you Francois :)-

Would you believe, that Origin 3 piece shell set, starting from finished machined shells to finished drums = 44 hours!!!! Add on shell production time of another 46 hours, that's 90 skilled man hours labour in total :( Try telling people that & they never believe you eh Francois!
