Default Syncopation - How do i use it?

I bought this book some time ago because my teacher at the time told me to buy it, we never went into it though.

The only exercise i use atm is lesson 10, which i use for my hands and feet as it swaps from the 8th notes to 16ths...great for control. The rest of the book is over my head.

Be great if you guys could explain a few things or even link me to some info...really interested in checking out different drumming styles, and i hear great things about this book.

Thanks

Are you refering to Syncopation For the Modern Drummer by Ted Reed? If so, do a search within DrummerWorld as there are plenty of discussions over this exact topic.

Dawson will wreck you with Syncopation:

http://www.amazon.com/Drummers-Compl.../dp/0769265243

There's 30-40 ways to interpret the big 8 pages of Syncopation in that book, and most of them will wreck you for a while.

If you are referring to Reed's book, I haven't used it in years but was just discussing it on another thread.

Other then the straight snare work, what my teacher had me do with it years ago was play each line with every combination of 3 limbs and play steady quater notes with the 4th. I understand that things have progressed far from the way things were when I started, but these were still great exercises and I doubt they are over your head.
