Help choosing new kit

I want loads of sustain from my toms and so am interested in finding the thinnest unsupported (without reinforcement rings) shell out there. Does anyone have any suggestions and experience? I have no brand preference and will go with what my ears tell me to go with. Thanks!

Are acrylics out of the question? And is there a price range you're looking for?

Luckily I'm not too worried about the price right now. I've enjoyed acrylic kits when I've played them, but would want wood for a long term kit.

With out too much looking around, I found the Ludwig Legacy Classic series http://www.ludwig-drums.com/drumkits/legacyclassic.php 3-ply, but they have a reinforcement ring.

Honestly, when you get that thin reinforcement rings may be necessary just to keep the damn things in round.

Go stave. From what I hear Unix make great kits.

I own a small kit and the shells where made by Joshua Tree. Incredible tone and sustain. My extremely thin/no r-ring 70's Jasper Gretsch's can't touch them.
