Default Finally Got a new Kit: Mapex M Birch

After 9 long years with my Tama Rockstars kit, I finally got a new one. My great aunt purchased this kit for me. She has always been really supportive of me playing music.

Bass drum - 22" x 18"

Toms:
8" x 8"
10" x 8"
12" x 9"
14" x 11"
16" x 13"

Snare(s) - Main snare on kit is my 5-1/2" x 14" DW Collectors Brass Snare. Secondary snare is the one that came with the kit. Which is also a 5-1/2" x 14".

The name of the finish is "Black Forest Sapphire"

I will be selling my old kit to eventually get more cymbals. Cymbals have always been a problem for me, since I used to play Metal and cymbals don't last long then. Since i'm switching up styles they should be lasting quite a bit longer now :)

Congratulations! Mapex makes a fine set of drums. However, from what I can see, the cymbals appear to be pretty good. Do you just want a change?

I hate the sound of my ride. One of the Crashes has a huge crack in it. I cut it out, but it's still cracking. I miss not having a china cymbal. I'd like to just add another crash, china, and some splashes.

Lovely drumkit. The blue black fade is great & i love your tom sizes. It was a toss up between the mapex pro m birch a tama superstar or a sonor 2007 not long ago... The sonor won ;)

Are you a fan of birch over maple? I got birch because

A) I can tune them nice & open but still get that nice tight focused sound i love with no dampening

B) There 200 odd cheaper than the maple.

C) most people use maple over birch & i like doing what most people don't. That said birch is becoming more popular again i believe. Not that will make be go to maple lol

I really do love the sound of them. I like the more focused sounds. I will (hopefully) be doing some recording with this kit soon and will put them up. The price was key too. I havent' played on many maple kits, but I just love the sound of this birch kit.

The kit snare sounds really nice. I have an Evans ST Dry on it and I'm very pleased with the sound. Although, i mainly just use it as a holder for my mp3 player :(

hahahah Norske. ahh, Yes she is single. But, she is almost 80 years old. If you are into older women, that's cool. I'll pass along your offer to her and see what she says :P

Looks like you're being pretty liberal with the moongels. I understand that nobody likes nasty overtones, but 3 on the snare?! I don't care if you're playing early Bowie tunes, that's too much for me.
