Show Off Your Hood Ornaments and Other Embellishments

Topic for showing off those little personal touches to your sets.

When I got my Imperialstar bass back in November, it came with a cowbell mount attached to the rim. Since I don't own or desire a cowbell for my set, I pondered an alternative use for it. Inspired by Nicko McBrain and his Sooty the Bear puppet, I decided to mount some kind of "hood ornament" for my set on the cowbell mount. Besides filmmaking and music, Legos were my only major hobby between the ages of 8 and 14, so I dug into my huge bucket of Lego pieces and after a few hours of trial and error design, a few extra parts ordered directly from Lego, and some leftover paint from when I repainted my set last year, I devised this minifigure-scale model of my set.

I devised this minifigure-scale model of my set.

That's pretty nifty but if everything is to scale as you say, then your mini-drummer is playing his kit with wine bottles!

Well Jim what did you expect? Drumsticks? Everybody I know plays with wine bottles, don't you?

Haha yeah they're quite stubby too. They don't even reach the toms. Also I have no idea how Lego me would operate the non-existant bass and hat pedals with his feet propped up on the seat like that.

I don't want to know what you play with, Larry.

Fine Jim. I didn't plan on telling you anyway. Big bully. :p

I found a real life 3D Pupster. It's sitting on the font lawn of a child care center near me. I pass it frequently but never really took notice until I realized it resembled your avi. One of these days I'll snap a picture of it and post it for a laugh. It's fairly close.

OK, I'll play.

That's a really clever little drum kit. Nice addition.

You should totally put a little cape on the Lego drummer...

Thanks :)
It's actually a belt buckle that I attached to a bolt (epoxy) I put into a threaded cymbal sleeve, and stick the base between the drum head hoop and the shell. I also put a piece of gaffer over the end of the sleeve base to keep it from shaking off (just in case).

I have a few others, but this is the one I use the most.
