Here is my ongoing affair, essentially a Yamaha Stage Custom in Raven Black from 1998 that I've just kept adding to and adding to. After a while with it in the configuration in the first photo, I bought a few more pieces and rearranged it to pay tribute to Neil Peart's setup, while still retaining some personal touches here and there.
Stage Custom: 8x8, 9x10, 10x12, 12x14, 14x16, 16x20
Snares: An old secondhand 5.5x14 steel snare, and a Peace 3.5x14 piccolo
An old refinished 16x16 Ludwig Classic floor tom with the bottom head removed (never got around to replacing it); moves between left side and "gong" mounted on the far right
Cymbals: 14" Zildjian Z-Macs as hi-hats; 15, 16, 18, 19" crashes; 20" K Custom ride: 2 x 8" splashes, 12" splash (eventually bought another and made x-hats of them), 3 chinas (1 by LP, 2 by Wuhan); a bell cymbal cut from the center of an old Pearl crash; ZXT Trashformer
Toys: Cowbells, chimes, LP Stealth Block, Rhythm Tech Tambourine, LP mini timbales
Since these photos, I've sold the min-timbs and bought a custom made 5x6 rack tom to replace them (I love tiny little drums, don't know why). Also, as you can see in the last two photos, I split the Gibraltar rack up to two separate sides, to make the whole thing easier to get on and off stage when I actually started taking the whole thing places with me.
Next planned purchase is a Pork Pie 7x13 Brass Patina snare or a Yamaha 6.5 x 13 Musashi Oak snare. Would love to hear comments from anyone who has either.
