Literally 90% of my cymbals are "low-end" at the moment, but they work at least. Could be worse.

Right Side:
10" Meinl HCS Splash
10" Zildjian ZBT Splash
12" Wuhan China
14" Paiste PST3 Crash
22" Meinl Byzance Traditional China

Left Side:
8" Zildjian ZXT Trashformer
14" Meinl HCS HiHats
16" Meinl HCS Crash
16" Zildjian ZBT China
20" Meinl HCS Ride

I have plans for replacing most of these cymbals in the future.

Hi!
My cymbal set up is fairly new, so I thought I'd share. Post-Xmas shopping in pawn shops is a WONDERFUL thing!!! Scored a few deals that I would have otherwise never come across...
--12" Wuhan China ($12)
--12" Zen-Jian splash/crash? ($20, came with the cymbal stand. More on this one later...)
--12" A Zildjian splash? ($35--pawn shop)
--14" SoulTone Extreme Hihats ($50--craigslist deal)
--16" Sabian Hand Hammered Thin crash ($50 craigslist deal)
--16" Sabian AA medium thin crash ($35 pawn shop)
--18" A Zildjian medium ride ($80, craigslist).

1)This is odd, but it sounds like the 18" and the two 16"s are related. I'm not terribly musical, so it may not make much sense, but it seems like the pitch (?) for them is very close to the same. Starting at the HH, then the AA then the 18" ride, you can easily sound out "do re mi", I would have thought they would sound more different being different brands, but what do I know, lol. They complement each other beautifully. The odd one out is the 12" A splash. Maybe because it is a splash, it isn't supposed to mix in too well, but it is....well, splashy. It is higher than the ride, but the sound doesn't blend in as well... Figured since the were both A's, the sound would be more similar to each other, and not as close to the Sabians. Either way, love the sound!

2)The 12" Zen-Jian. Done research on it, but not a whole lot of information available. Some says they were generic cymbals produced for one of the drum companies, while others think they are rebadged italian cymbals. In either case, it sounds REALLY good. For the longest time, it was my only crash. Unlike the thicker 12" splash, this one is more of a fast crash. High and fast, and definitely not splashy at all. Soundwise, it is more related to my HH Sabian crash--darker sounding. Didn't think crashes could be 12"ers, though....

Don't think I'll get anymore cymbals any time soon... Unless I find a deal that is too good to be true... Wife is already giving me the stink eye for having too many cymbals compared to 6 months ago...

My Cymbal Setup: All Zildjian.

from left to right:

Hihats: Top: 17" K thin crash / Bottom: 17" Vintage A Zildjian Ride (or 15" K light hihat)
Left-side Crash: 21" A Sweet Ride (or 19" K thin crash)
Ride: 24" K Light Ride
Right-side Crash: 21" A Sweet Ride

I have lots of cymbals (too many really)

But that situation always seems to come up when you need "basic" and loud when subtle just won't work ...
for those times I drag out the BIG UGLY three.

22" Zildjian A series medium ride
18" Zildjian A series medium thin crash
16" Zildjian A series Big Ugly hats (medium crash over a mini-cup ride cymbal)

Works great for the blues/roots genre... with the ride mounted on the bass drum, the 18 on the left, with the hats

All Istanbul Agop for me. I only have a fairly small setup for the moment but I absolutely love all of them.

14" Xist Hi-hats (in brilliant finish)
16" Sultan Crash
16" Azure Crash
20" Xist Ride (brilliant finish)

Never really heard many opinions of the Xist range, but they really are fantastic. When I first saw them the cheaper price was a source of some scepticism, but upon testing the ride against any of the top end Zildjians at our drum centre the one I found sounded easily as good if not better than the majority, very happy with it.

14" vintage Zildjian A New Beat Hi-Hats from the 1970's
16" Zildjian A Medium Crash
20" Zildjian A Custom Projection Ride
21" Zildjian A Sweet Ride, Traditional Finish
18" Han Chi China Bright

I also have a Zildjian ZHT China Splash that I use for quieter jazz and Latin stuff, but I don't incorporate it as often as I'd like to because doing so involves taking down my A Custom and moving my 16" over to the empty spot.

Are you a Danny Carey fan? How has the dry heavy ride treated you thus far?

Hey mate, I have a 21" sig. Dry heavy ride and it's my primary ride, beautiful sounding cymbal and definitely everything I was looking for in a ride also very versatile (surprisingly)

I have a pretty metally sound with that set-up, but also has a nice mellow sound if I don't cream the cymbals when I hit them.
