Let's see your Gretsch kits (saved the best for last!)

Just when I get all Ludwig crazy I come across another Gretsch kit that wows me. Nice Renown maples. Gretsch has best top to bottom line of kits out there today. Just my opinion.

Ludwig is sorely lacking in bop kit configurations.
I wish they would remedy that.
They've got you covered for snares though - that's for sure.

Gretsch's line-up and configurations are more to my liking.

Rub-a-dub-dub. Catalina Club :) Congrats to everyone on this thread. You all have such beautiful drums!! Just got these last weekend. Copper Sparkle CCJ. I've replaced all the batters w/Remo Skyntone heads, but kept the Gretsch stock resos on the toms for now. I also put a Hazy Diplomat and PureSound snare strand on the snare. Tuned it up and the snare is now actually one of the best I've ever played on ... what a big difference with new heads and snares!! Everything sounds warm and vintage. I play instrumental surf, rockabilly and early 50s rock n' roll. Vintage 60s Zildjians. Enjoy!!

I agree. Sparkletone, those are beauties. And they are a mid-level Catalinas ($500-600 tops?) Proof that Gretsch is king lately.

Nice photgraphy too. Enjoy them.

In the midst of a restoration.

The snare is all done though.

After my unrealistic 'show all', here is the working model inspired by Sugarfoot Moffet and Stanton Moore.

20" main bass, with the 22" on a slave to the right. I can use the punchy 20" for the main, and then give it more depth with the 22". Like a stomp box for guitarists.

Replacement custom decals came on Friday, well chuffed, as they match the one on the 22" perfectly

Here's my main kit for my band - Renown Maple 8,10,12,14,22 - modified with Yamaha YESS mounts that I did myself. Also, I refinished the hoops and lugs (they were abused). The snare is a round badge from the 50's that I stripped the wrap fro, sanded, and had my toddler paint. Mostly Yamaha hardware, plus I added a Trick Universal Drive Shaft to the 9315 pedals.

After a few years of heavy playing and several shows on my Classic Maple kit, I took a turn and replaced it with these Brooklyns. Excellent sounding drums and VERY well made! That's a skull-cracking 14x6.5" Gretsch cast aluminum snare back there.
