So, I'm new here. A little back story: I played drums in high school and thereafter, was in a band and all that. when I went to college and got married, there wasn't time or money for drum upkeep. Then about 5 years ago, my wife needed a new laptop, so I sold off my cymbals for that. My drums fell into disrepair. I haven't played seriously in about 6 or so years. However, last year I got my first teaching job (middle school Art) and now suddenly there's money and I can finally restore my drums. So I've recently been in the process of bringing my drums up to par. I've been getting cymbals on Ebay for super cheap. I'm in the process of wrapping the shells in a gold glitter glass wrap. The snare finish I made using black paint, gloss lacquer, and leftovers scraps from the 10" tom wrap.
About the kit: It's a PDP CX series I got when I was in high school. This was back when PDP was first coming out. It was originally crimson red lacquer but at some point I painted them blue. They have a great sound, basically like DW.
10" tom
12" tom (that I don't use)
14" floor tom (this was originally a mounted tom, but I always hated having it mounted, as I could never move it to where I needed it without moving the cymbal stand it was attached to. So I bought legs and made it a floor tom).
14" snare
Cymbals (all ued from ebay):
21" Sabian AA Dry Ride
16" Sabian AA Medium Thin Crash
12" Zildjian K Splash
13" Zildjian New Beat Hi Hats (not seen, but are shipping as we speak).
I'm debating whether or not to buy a 14" or 15" crash or to just leave the setup as is (I prefer a simpler setup).
I just need to finish the wraps, replace a few miscellaneous parts, one or two new stands, maybe a new snare head, and I'll be good to go. I'll post the finished pics when I'm done.
