I know this thread is meant for posting your gigs you ALREADY HAVE PLAYED, but my 17 piece big band, The Talk of the Town, is doing a WWII show for Memorial Day at Remington Park racetrack and casino in Oklahoma City (I think you know which state) tomorrow from 1:30-4:30. If you're in the area and not already playing, come by and catch us and enjoy the ponies and slots. Pics to follow.
Our little trio was asked to play at someone's back yard birthday/Memorial Day gig, and as soon as I arrived I realized that I had never played on sod before. After years of playing on some sort of floor, my brain assumed we'd be on a porch or in a garage. I had a rug, but realized that I'd get the best positioning of gear without it. My throne was off-kilter a bit, my hats wobbled when played heel-down, and nothing was in perfect position. Regardless, I fell in love with my new snare, which is what this pic is all about.
I love the beat up blinds on the window! This gig turned out to be a real blast to play. Elks club lodge, they demanded oncores, danced a lot and want us back right away too.
Here's a pic from a recent gig subbing for a local blues band. The venue is a beer garden in Leavenworth, Washington (a transplanted Bavarian village).
I'm guessing many drummers know the feeling of looking through gig pics, hoping to find a cool drummer action shot, and mostly just finding a cloud of smoke instead. If you're really lucky, you might see a hand sticking out from a dark corner at the back of the stage.
We've got literally hundreds of great live pictures of the three other guys, but have to keep using the same 5-6 pics of me when putting together promotional materials, haha :-D
Just remembered I had these (admittedly rather crappy mobile phone) pics. These were taken at one of the weekly Thursday night jams at the bar just down the road. This particular night was well attended, and OODLES of fun. ;-)
