INTRODUCTIONS: Please Use This Thread To Introduce Yourself!

Hi gang,

I've looked at threads on this site for so long, I figured it was time to join. I'm in a band, (switched to all originals), and we are starting to get rolling again. I mostly love all drums, no matter what emblem is on the shells. It seems to me it's a tough choice when picking a new set, because ALL the drum companies are offering good/great quality at pretty decent prices nowadays. I had Ludwigs, DW's, Tama's and Pearl's, and presently have a Yamaha live Custom, DrumCraft maple, and a Mapex Saturn that I never got to play yet. It's still new, in the boxes.
I'm 44, and have been playing on and off since I was twelve. Life got in the way of things for a few years, but got back into it 6 years ago or so. Life will hopefully not get in the way again.

Do I really have to introduce myself? I mean DW-Doug, I've told you a lot already. You know I'm probably Doug. You know my middle or last name may start with a W, or else I got a thing for DW drums. So, what else is there to know?

Yeah, there's more. Am I going to tell it all in one thread? Nope, then I'd have to leave, as you know too much about me, haha.

First played drums in 3rd grade I think I honestly don't remember for sure. I played in high school band for 6 years, because they merged all Jr. high and high school where I went at time, so they adopted us early for a "bigger band", especially drummers. So, I got to be around older guys that could really play well. It helped. We went for a drum and bugle corp style drum section. It was a big deal.

Maybe I had a crap drum set to start, but I can definitely remember drumming and beating on a metal lamp shade, and beating the h*ll out of it as a cymbal before I got my big set, LOL.

I was 16 when I got my drums. Played in band early, and continued to a bit of college age. After that, I mostly put them down for many years.

More later... Oh yeah, I'm vintage and so is some of my gear, ha.

Apparently, I didn't follow the format of thread, oops. I'm a rule breaker already. Banned (him) on the run! Well, I hope not for this infraction. I'll do better...

Hi, thanks for having me here!

I just started playing a couple of months ago. Drums were the first instrument I ever wanted to play a a youngster, but owning a kit was not going to happen. I started on guitar and have played that for about 20 years now.

I'd like to be able to write and record all the parts of songs myself and decided if I was ever going to learn the drums, now was the time. Its a boatload of fun - I'm sorry I took so long to get into it.

My name is Frank
I play Drums sometimes loud sometimes soft and occasionally they let me sing.

Seriously I have been playing for about 40 years I started very young and no I'm no where even close to being a prodigy, but my mother said I was the best so..........

I have played in several bands and I am in a 80's rock project now called 18@heart (Steel Panther, Dio, Van Halen, Warrant, Slaughter you get it) also I am working on a blues project with guys that live all over the place doing a lot of recording thru thumb drives.

In 2001-2004 I was in a band called Osaris that did a ton of openings for national acts like Nickleback, Puddle of Mud Three Doors Down, Saliva, 7Mary3, Disturbed, and so on. Drums are my passion and I have been influenced by My Father, My Brother, My Son everyone of you and some other small names like Bonham, Peart, Van HAlen, Rich, Krupa.

So thank you for having me and reading this and remember we are all only one rack tom away from it being a problem.

Peace.
