Yep...the 6.5's were only made for approx. 2-3 yrs. ...the serial # on mine is 0087...and I'll say this as well..I've owned both the 5.5 & 6.5...I definitely like the 6.5 better...
I see I have been lucky enough to get one Dave weckl Signature Aluminum snare in the 14"x6,5" size, unused, i didn't even know it existed with that size (i thought his old series snares were all 14x5.
I also got Two of his old maple signature snares, the ones with the aluminum rims and micro gold lugs.
I did notice thought he older one of them came with the mini lugs with the hole for the shell mounting screw closer to the edges, and the newer one has the lugs with that hole closer to the center of the shell, i will keep just one of them and besides that diffrence, they are both in mint condition...
I would like to know, if anyone knows why they changed the design of the lugs, and also if anyone knows which might be better... i have to check wich model has the Aluminum one, but i also own a Seamles custom cooper yammy, and it has the mini lugs with the shell mounting screw hole closer to the center of the shell and not the other way around.
My guess is that the lug would resist better the stress with the newer configuration....
Any opinions about this?
I will be uploading some pics to flicker or some other place and share them here later:
Thanks in advance for any info or advice on this matter!
