you have a good eye! wow. The main kit is Catalina Maple and I was always missing the 8".

I found that one at a music store that was going out of business. It's an 8" Taye. Same finish, same floating mount, you have to get really close to see the difference.

That was sitting in the store on it's own and I just had to have it!

I didn't see it was different, but I have a catalina maple too, and I know there is no 8" tom :)

Gretsch Catalina Club Jazz taken the night I brought them home. They are certainly not the best kit ever made but they are just infinitely cool and priced well.

not a Gretsch Kit per se, but I got a hold of the fybreskyn 3 bass resonant and found a brodkaster type logo at a vintage drum fair late last year, and i've got to say I am in love with how it looks.
Whaddya think??

Are that the same lugs as on the Catalina Maple??

Hey Bram.
No the lugs on the Catalina series of drums are exclusive to that series.
The lugs on the Renown series are the same used on the USA custom series.

I'm new to this website, this Gretsch thread caught my eye!
There are some awesome kits around here!!

Here are my two Gretsch kits:

My New Classic kit: 10" and 12" toms, 14" floor tom, 22" bass drum with the New Classic 14 x 6.5 snare:

Can you back up and take a photo of the whole kit??

I will this weekend once I put up the new cymbals! Unfortunately my set sits at my friends house in the suburbs (and I only get there on the weekends) I live in a condo that isn't condusive to having real live drums around, so this weekend the new pics will arrive!

Terrible iPhone camera shot of my setup for a gig tonight...

gretsch.jpg

I'll try to take some better ones tonight.

It's a Gretsch Renown 5-pc kit (only setup as 4-pc for this gig) in autumn burst. 10/12/14" toms, 18x22" kick. Using a 5x14" Acrolite Black Galaxy snare. Cymbals are 13" K hi-hats, 16" K Custom Dark Crash, 17" A Custom crash, and 20" A Custom ping ride.

Heads are Evans G2 clear on toms, Evans EMAD2 on kick, and Evans Genera Dry on snare.

I'm playing with an artist named Brant Christopher (http://www.myspace.com/brantchristopher)
