Is the window always open so that you can get behind the kit???

Major Drool factor on the Pearl CZX kit!! I wanted one of those kits as soon as they came out in Modern Drummer!! I never saw a set of them in a store anywhere!! How do they sound? :)

I prefer the minimalist approach. My own interpretation of a stealth rack using series 1 Yamaha Hexrack components.

oooooohhhhhh, I love that finish! I had one with 20", 10", 12" & can't remember.

The sustain was insane. Even with the reso heads cranked up, the toms sang for ages!

This was a Christmas gift from my dad so I am still buying clamps and arms and I plan to get 2 side pieces eventually. Gibraltar GRS-850DBL

This is as far as I break it down for transport until I get a bag.

That has to be the widest rack I have ever seen for two toms. Will you be able to reach anything on the left side if you buy a side piece?

The left side would surely be the last piece added and I see what you mean. If I bring the left side of the front closer though, it screws with my OCD and my brain can't take it, as well as moves that tom too close. I can't see any other way to set it up to accommodate the offset toms and all the cymbals across the front but if you have a suggestion I would surely consider it.

I would like to find a 3rd rack tom and second bass drum but my first priority is a second floor tom. I also set it up with that in mind.

How long are the side pieces. Maybe the side piece could replace the left-side front piece, and then the left front piece could be the side.
I really think with only two toms you could get by with one front piece.

The sides can be whatever length I order them. I agree that left side goes a little beyond necessary in length across the front.

I have had strange thoughts of incorporating a turntable and mixer into the setup for live shows to play weird samples between songs, and that is really the only thing the rack would need to extend further for. Not more than it is now though.

My setup is not quite dialed in and permanent yet. I have only been back at it for 8 months but I will surely take a better look at how to make it a bit more space efficient now.

I believe there is a clamp that will act as a connector for the rack tubing, that can be adjusted up to a 90* bend... maybe hook that left front to the back right after the hats or something.

Gibralter GCS-375 All chrome rack with curved wings. Got a pearl cymbal stand clamped on to the right side for support because the 21in Rezo Ride i use sometimes is rather heavy and bows it down some. But the 20in K Con I have on it now works fine without it. Specs are 46in curved Horizontal bar, 30in vertical legs with 24in curved wings.

This is my current setup. I have been getting back into my drums alot now that im in college and have more time. Right now its mostly pearl with a mix of other brands. The Icon rack was custom built with legs I had specially made for the PCX clamps. Heres some photos. Also was able to find a pair of Mandala drums V.2. I have set up on either side of the kit.

Yamaha HexRack II
Yamaha Recording Custom (Cherry Wood)
DW Collector's Series (Ivory Ebony)

After playing the Yamaha kit for almost 35 years, I decided to pick up a DW kit. Great drums. Not that there was anything wrong with the Yamaha drums. Good time for a change.
