Re: New Guru "Tour" series kits - details here first :)

There is no doubt that these drum are gorgeous. The finish is spectacular. The lugs are my faves. The sound is I'm sure great. But I could never think of paying 5000.00 USD for 4 drums. Is this...

Re: screwed up my first gig

My first Gig, 1968, playing in a cover band, probably made a ton of mistakes as did the rest of the band. I still like drumming, music, and the world moves on. Tough being human

Rather than start threads of this nature, contact a mod to keep an eye on the situation.

Re: Metronome app that speeds up and then slows down

Stanton Moore, you may know him, was at a clinic here and his suggestion was not to do that. do your 80 bpm exercise. STOP, do your 100, STOP do your 120 etc. Don't try to speed up on the fly.

Re: How sentimental are you about your drums?

After not playing for 32 years and after finding the great deal I did on the Gretsch Renown, they are still for sale, and when they go I will cry a few lonely tears.

Just change your sub division and leave the speed alone.

Re: Tempus ordered, payed in April- snare still not there

I have sent him a message and this will be my last time in this feud. I have to consider the website and the forum and the position I may put them in. Glad to help and thanks for understanding.

Re: 1980's Gretsch USA Custom

The tom sizes are standard sizes for a rock drum set. The USA Custom allows ordering drums to fit your need but the build isn't custom. I'm not sure what is undesirable for the tom sizes. Other than...

Re: 1980's Gretsch USA Custom

If they truly are mint and have the reso head hardware, you are looking at 2000. to 2500 based on what I have seen on eBay

Re: How were drums taught back in the day?

Three ideas. Yes even when I was in school, the 60's the goofs lugging guitars around did wash out. They were into it for the wrong reasons. Two, kids who need there instruction micro managed,...

Re: Connecting a bass drum pedal

I'm thinking the front is too high forcing the batter side down too low causing the heel plate to lift up. Photo please.

Re: How were drums taught back in the day?

I started in the eighth grade. 14 of us in one class learning rudiments using chairs back to back with book shelves across them. We were learning specifically for concert band and orchestra. My...

Re: Impact of tuning on drum structure

If it is tuned properly all of the stress is on the bearing edge and the screws holding on the lugs. There should be nothing pulling against the circumference of the drum. I'm guessing if one lug...

Re: comparing two new sets, Ludwig or DW?

As for non-jazz Gretsch players, Cindy Blackman-Santana, Keith Carlock, Phil Collins, Taylor Hawkins, Stanton Moore, et.al. The list goes on.

Re: comparing two new sets, Ludwig or DW?

I'm not sure where the Gretsch for Jazz thing started but it's way off. There are tons of rock drummers using Gretsch drum and they off as many configurations as any other. They don't have a click...

Re: comparing two new sets, Ludwig or DW?

I would rather you go back and compare the Ludwig's with the Gretsch USA Customs. With Gretsch you will get 130 years of experience
