Re: Doomsday scenario

I do have to admit, when it was down, I didn't miss the board itself so much as I did wonder how I'd every keep up with Grea, Andy, Larry, Tony, and so many more of the regulars around here that I've...

Re: Brian Tichy: The Importance of Consistency

Tichy is one of the best rock/hard rock drummers out there right now.

I've seen him several times in a variety of settings, and he's rather amazing.

And he's a really good guitar player too.

Re: Really, was this planned...?

I clicked on that, and it's not even an item for sale. it's just an advertisement pretending to be an item for sale.

Some people just way over value their own gear, and think things are worth...

Re: Bands ... The Franchise

This already is going on with cover bands and some other acts that are focused on a certain style over individual musician.

Some of the bigger acts that do corporate parties or tour certain...

Re: I think I'm losing it

I used to have problems with heartburn.

I used to go through tums like crazy, as well as other antacids.

I blamed tomatoes, marinara sauce, cheese, citrus.

Then for an unrelated reason, I...

Re: Shoes and Gloves

Gloves aren't for protecting your hands from drumming.
They are for people who experience sweaty hands when playing.

Shoes are a personal choice, as Billy said, play in what shoes you're...

Re: Video: Neil Peart's Guide to Neil Peart's Drums

Yes, the admin has to allow embedded videos, so there is nothing a user can do about it.

As for the Neil video, disappointing that the video contained NO actual photos or video of his drum kit....

Re: Good and bad customer service.

To be clear, I used to work in several drum/music shops, and spend some time as a roadie.

My numerous customer service experiences are often in regard to OTHER people's equipment, not just my own...

Re: What makes music classic, timeless?

True.

I went to high school in 84-88. At the time, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Hendrix, Beatles, and The Who were all defunct. Pink Floyd was inactive. Yet, they were all incredibly popular bands...

Re: What makes music classic, timeless?

I think the answer is complex, and owes to many different attributes, and not any one thing.

Jazz, much like rock, has gone through evolutions. The early stages were mostly players learning to...

Re: Being dragged out of the 60's

I live near a high school, and I'm amazed how many times I'll see kids wearing a Pink Floyd, or Zep or Doors t-shirts.

GC: Is very hit and miss, depending on who it is.

Sam Ash: Never had a good experience at the Sam Ash in the valley. It's like the music store time and all their employees forgot. The Hollywood...

Re: Being dragged out of the 60's

Dylan has been very public that he will not play songs as recorded.

Re: Jon "Bermuda" Schwartz here!

You know they were bad if John didn't like them!

I'd never seen a clip/picture of you with Sonar before. I guess I still learn something new everyday!

Re: Jeez, Phil...

I read that.

Which, along with him NOT being in their recent band photo, makes me think they had already planned on doing the tour without him.

Funny, this many posts in a thread, and no...

Re: Neil Peart Borrows Max Roach?

As I Rush fan, I actually agree.

I would prefer if Rush would just play another song rather than yet another 10+ minute drum solo.

Particularly given when Neil does the whole solo over an...

Re: Neil Peart Borrows Max Roach?

Yes, Peart say he borrows heavily from Roach.

Re: Hannah Ford and Prince

I think it's ironic that you make an argument that Hanna is not as good as Sheila E and then say Hannah is more image than talent.

Doesn't anyone remember Sheila E made a name for herself appear...
