Re: Gigged last night

Dr. Watso that made me laugh. I've always been a bit backwards.
Bo, the lights we used in the 80's would have warmed us up, these newer ones don't get that hot.

Re: First time in EIGHT years.. I have drums set up at my place.

Congrats on the house. I guess I'm spoiled. I've always had drums at my house. You'll enjoy that a lot. I like your kit. I've alway thought Granstars were great drums. I think they are the equivalent...

Gigged last night

Our first gig with this band went real good. It was outside and got pretty cold, but we played well. Our equipment was all wet by the night's end, from the dew. I brought my drums home and took them...

Re: My new (used) Tama Superstar Hyper-Drives

That looks like a nice kit. I didn't realize Superstars had diecast hoops. Is that an upgrade? I'm with you on the toms. I've alway liked at least a 5 pc. kit. I like the wrap. Maybe a tom or Fl. tom...

Re: My Snare Collection..:)

Wow there are some nice drums there. Did I spot a Yamaha steel snare in there? I've got one that looks similar. It''s a 1988 model. I had a few vintage snares, and sold them to buy cymbals. I use the...

Re: Yamaha Drums

That's a nice kit. I see that you have it set up the right way too. At least I set mine up that way.

Re: What's your latest purchase?

I traded a 18" vintage Zil. crash for a set of 2010 new beats. I like umm. Wasn't using the crash, but it was nice. ...

Re: I've learned so much here.

You're right about google DW pops up (not pop ups) I've never thought about it, but that does say something. A very well respected forum. I know I've referred a lot of people to DW. I don't even have...

Re: Snare question: 8 vs 10 lug differences?

I'm willing to bet your Tama is a high quality drum. I would try a die cast hoop on the batter side. 8 or 10 lugs don't make me much difference. I've had both that I like. I can't tell any difference...

Re: Hey Lefty Drummers

For the most part, people have been pretty understanding, and didn't mind me reversing their kit. If I'm just doing a song or two, I'll just swap out hat Fl.tom and snare. I always make sure I put...

I think you'll enjoy those. They're great drums. I've got BCAN from the same era. You got a good deal. Have fun.

Re: How do you feel about buying used records?

I've bought lots of CDs at used stores. I've wondered about it. It seems like the artist should get something from it. I've even bought copies of albums my own band has recorded. Of coarse it was on...

Re: Is this suspicious?

The piracy doesn't bother me as much as the real intention of the email. I don't know this person. And T Underhill posted almost the same email from the Detroit area. Someone is up to no good. They...

Re: Is this suspicious?

I sure appreciate your replies. I'll turn it in as spam. The guys name is Bill Smith. There were no attachments. Us old gullible, non-hi-tech drummers need your help. Thanks

Is this suspicious?

I got an email from someone I don't know, saying his son took lessons online from Mike Johnson and he recommends them 100%. He went on to say that he has pdf files on a flash drive of the lessons for...

Re: Worst song ever

Shattered by the Stones comes to mind for me. There was a lot of bad music on the radio in the 80's. There was some good stuff too though.

Re: My icecream bar....

New heads sure look nice. You've got some serious cym. too. Do you have zero-rings on all your drums? Don't those kill the tone a lot? I've used those on my snare before, but it's been a while.

Re: The Best Hard Rock/Metal Snare!

Shoot I play some metal and payed 40 bucks for my snare. It's a late 80's Yamaha steel 6 1/2" X 14" I really like it. I sold the Dynasonic COB to fund a cym purchase and haven't missed it at all. The...
