Re: Studio build help/info

I currently rent a two room apartment with a large great room. The apartment is part of a country estate that is owned by my sister and brother in law. They also live on the the complex in a separate...

Re: Who uses Moongel?

I have used all kinds of things in the past to dampen my drums and I have never been happy with any of the common methods such as Moongel or Drumgum.
Today, I can buy all sorts of heads that have...

Re: Weird Al Wired

I don't watch commercial TV so I haven't seen the ad. I imagine that it is funny.

I have recently wondered how Radio Shack stays in biz. Many years ago they had a place in the electronic world as...

Re: A New Believer In Brass Shells

I love my BB with cast hoops and my 70 Gretsch COB with cast hoops.
These drums can do anything. I am also a lover of wooden snares and I have many but there are times when only brass will do.
Glad...

Re: No love for 20" bassdrums?

I like all size bass drums. The 20" is in the middle of the spectrum. The 20" is very comfortable to tune and it allows for low tom placement.

Re: Recommendation for a Woody, Sensitive Snare?

My 65 Slingerland single ply Artist. That is a great snare that really puts out a warm wonderful woody sound that I can't seem to get enough of.

Re: Which Snare Wires to Get

I have tried many types of wires over the years. I have come to the conclusion that if the wires are even, meaning that none of them are stretched out so that they differ in tension to the other...

Re: Will this damage my bass drum?

I can't believe that your bass drum didn't crumble into dust and crash into the ground at free fall speed like the buildings of the World Trade Center did on 9-11.

Reality check; Manufacturers...

Re: Ludwig bass mounts

The new Atlas mounts allow the bass drum to fit inside of a standard bag when the Arch is removed.
I have the New Atlas mounts on bass drums and toms.
I also have the Atlas Anchor spurs on one of...

Re: Ludwig bass mounts

Go to my first post where I put a link to a thread about the modern rail mount. Many members posted their dislikes in that thread.

Thanks Pocket.

Re: The being fired or quitting thread

The political subject wasn't brought up intentionally. Ex; It was cold outside so the Conservative band member said, "So Much For Global Warming"
That prompted the Liberal band member to start...

Re: The being fired or quitting thread

As drumngun mentioned politics a few posts back.
We had to fire a bassist a few years ago after we repeatedly warned him about racist remarks. He insulted our Jewish singer several times with...

Re: I was told I don't play loud enough...

You can set a Zoom to just record audio. I used Zoom as a generic term. The video does help though.
What I expect that you will find is that the guitar players are each turing up their volume in...

Re: I was told I don't play loud enough...

+1 Larry. Make a Zoom recording of your next gig. Place the recorder with a friend in the audience about 10' or more from the band.
The recording will tell you what parts of your kit aren't being...

Re: The being fired or quitting thread

The only band that I ever got fired from was a band that I wanted to get fired from.
All of the people that I fired deserved to be fired.
When I quit, I quit only after I stuck it out far longer...

Re: Ludwig bass mounts

The new rail mounted tom holder is taller than the rail mount on vintage drums. I would go with mounting the toms on stands aside of the BD on a kit with those sizes.
The New Atlas Arch mount is...

Re: Club Date SE snare...forgot how awesome it is.

I also use a metal snare with my CD kit. I have a BB with black cast hoops that I really fancy.
It is a nice change to break out the wooden snare on occasion.

Re: Club Date SE snare...forgot how awesome it is.

Yes, the snare is cherry and gum wood with birch re-rings and 2.3mm hoops. The edges are rounded.
These drums produce warm tones. They are much like the drums of the 50's and 60's.
