Re: Made a riser for 16 in tom to kick

Re: Gretsch orphans or new kit?

Have you checked this place?
http://www.jamminjersey.com/d_orphan.php

Seems they've got a fair amount of loose Gretsch stuff. Not sure about the prices though.
What kind of a budget are you...

Re: Mary O- Update

Vinyl Notice - clever.

I've still got my Cranberry Red 5 piece, but the red Bop kit is history.

I don't think you should give up on the drums completely.
Being in a band, you're going to be...

Re: Mary O- Update

Hi MaryO2 (ha ha):

it sounds like you still have those Cranberry Red Stage Customs, but that someone else is rockin' them now - that about right?

Got any pics or videos of the new band?

Re: Ludwig Breakbeats Kit

I've only seen the blue, but they've also got black, and white sparkle kits now too - pretty cool little kits:

Re: Yamaha signature snare drums

Probably not 'comprehensive', but there are 84 of them listed in the archives:

Oops - not signatures - but still....

These are all...

Re: Sonor Safari or Bop

tunnelman3:

I'd say if at all possible, try to get to a store that has some of those sets to try out.
In particular, try sets with different size bass drums.
The smallest current production...

Re: Sonor Safari or Bop

I've got that kit and it's great.

The OP didn't give a lot of info about what he's looking for - just a choice between those two.
The Yamaha is just a 3 drum shell pack - bass, mounted tom and...

Re: Sonor Safari or Bop

If the choice is between those two kits, I'd go for the Bop, no questions asked.
Simply because of the bass drum size.

Re: Taking drums to Guitar Center for cash

People like going into a GC store, or browsing their site, looking for good deals on used kits.

How do you think those kits got there? And how many would there be if no one traded them in?

Re: bass drum claws

I put some wide butterfly claws from a 22" bass onto an 18" bass.
They were a little too flat though - not enough curve to them. I had to bend them a little to fit.
I'll probably replace them...

Just kidding, of course.

I have a few ways I handle loudness, but...

Re: Taking drums to Guitar Center for cash

I've taken in gear. Places like that offer a service for a price.
Only the individual can determine what it's worth to them.
In the OP's case, it's pretty much a no-brainer. He got them for...

I thought we had a lot of cheap drums around here, but I think you've got us beat.

I'd get that kit for the pedal and re-sell the drums.
The problem with cheap drums is that you could start...
