Re: The "Jimi Hendrix of drums"

Kind of funny, given Atma was fired from Journey just two weeks after he was given the gig. (he was just in the band for two weeks before they have the job to Mike Baird)

Anyhow, to the question,...

Re: Yamaha Recording Custom 14X8 Snare drum

For the 8" deep version, Yamaha didn't use the box lugs.

Yamaha used the same lugs as an 8" tom on the 8" deep snare.

Re: So you're going to a band audition...

Re: Yamaha Recording Custom 14X8 Snare drum

Even in the 80's when Yamaha RCs' were selling like hotcakes, it was rare anyone bought the matching snare.

Re: Do Youtube Drum Covers Influence What/How You Play?

No.

No doubt there are some good players putting up videos, but there are also tons of bad drummers playing parts are aren't even close to the original part.

And as mentioned, some of these...

Re: Piece by piece more expensive?

Kits in the price points as the ones you mentioned are made in packs, and shipped from over seas in packs, usually with the drums nested inside each other.

A big part of how they keep the prices...

Re: Weird Al Wired

I don't know.

Given Radio Shack is on the verge of going under, I'm not sure it's a good thing to be associated with these days. lol

Re: Is it safe to play songs that require a double kick pedal with just a single pedal?

Indeed.

They will drag you out of your practice space and make you kiss the feet of Roddy and Kollias, and then say three Hail Lombordo's as you gaze upon the alter of the Master of Puppets.

Re: Yahoo.com 10 legendary rock drummers..

In defense of the author, he clearly says

But where the author proves he hasn't a clue:

Neil has never played Taurus Pedals. Geddy played the Taurus Pedals.
So much fail.

Re: SKF Blog: A Great Drum Photo is Still Worth 1,000 Words

Ha! Yeah, his hi-hat is no where near where his foot would be.

My guess is the photo was posed, not a real live shot. Glare coming off the hi-hat stand was probably going into the camera, so the...

Re: Kinda miss those 80's kits!!

The first live concert footage videos I saw as a young kid generally featured large kits.

The Kids are Alight with Keith Moon and his large kits.

Then The Who's farewell concert, with Kenny...

Re: Kinda miss those 80's kits!!

Having been a teenager in the 80's, I do get a thrill from seeing all those massive set ups.

And I own enough drums to make a massive set up if I want.

Although I actually prefer to just play...

Re: I was told I don't play loud enough...

In addition to everything else,

Head selection, age of heads and muffling might be a factor.

Old pinstripe heads with duct tape on them aren't going to be very loud.

The same drum with a...

Re: peace sells drum track

16ths.

1) It's a raw drum track played by a human, it's not triggered and then quantized like pretty much darn near every metal album today.

2) Because you're not hearing it with the music,...

Re: Brian Tichy: The Importance of Consistency

I agree with Les too.

Re: What's the Hardest Position to Fill in a Band?

Yes, I've had frustration with keyboard players in the past.

That's why MIDI was invented! lol.

Re: What's the Hardest Position to Fill in a Band?

Every band I've been in has had that ONE problem position that was difficult to fill.

The exact position changes from band to band, but there always seemed to be one spot.

One band went...
