Re: Rack toms in opposite order(ala Mick Fleetwood)

I've been doing this myself lately. Mainly it was because I only found myself using my 1st rack tom (a 10") all the time, because I prefer the positioning of it, and rarely my second (a 12"). But, I...

Re: Left Hand/Coordination/Open-Handed

He knows I'm a drummer more than a guitarist anyway. He plays a bit of guitar as well, so sometimes we switch out playing songs live :)

Re: Left Hand/Coordination/Open-Handed

I'm starting to improve upon my left hand playing by simply playing a lefty kit. I am actually left handed to begin with, so it doesn't feel completely unnatural to me. I play guitar in a band in...

Re: PDP M5 vs. Ludwig Epic

Hey, do you know if that lamusic website is legit? I've never seen it before but the prices seem reasonable.

Re: Which of these are the best? New ImpStar, RockStar, Forum or Export?

I believe the RockStar is a step up from the ImperialStar, with the ImperialStar being a beginner level kit, and the RockStar being considered Intermediate. As for the Pearl Forums, I believe those...

Re: sorry but i have to, BIG DRUM KITS

Yeah he did. You hear it a lot in their live performances (Live at Leeds for example). He never used a hi-hat live, so his left foot was always on his second bass pedal :)

Re: Suspension mount vs. shell mount...shell mount wins!

What exactly is a suspension mount? I'm not really an expert with tom mounting, so I've never really heard the term before.

Bass drum depth

I'm looking into buying a new kit soon (most likely a Tama Superstar, as it fits my price range and seems to be what I'm looking for) and I'm wondering how bass drum depth will affect the sound of...

Re: Keith Moon's drumming: Behind Blue Eyes vs. This Song Is Over

Behind Blue Eyes is probably my favourite song ever. I just love Keith's drumming it. It's great fun to play, although impossible to get spot on.

Re: Bad Days

I feel your pain. I have had many days like this. More often in the last month or so actually...Some days I'll just feel totally awkward, uncomfortable and unproductive.

Re: Drums in College?"\

I'm facing the same problem, or at least I will be this September. My plan is just to bring my acoustic kit and buy muting pads for it. I'll just fill the bass drum with pillows to completely muffle...

Re: Things you do that annoy your bandmates

I too find myself messing around while the guitarists are tuning or fiddling with their amps. Maybe they shouldn't take so long with it. Another thing they just love is when I get bored practicing...

Re: Open-Handed Players: When did you start?

Though I play on a right handed kit, I am actually a lefty, so I do sometimes play open handed when I feel like it. But., I prefer "crossed" playing (though my arms aren't really crossed, just the...

Re: Set up Incorrectly?

People on Youtube are less than intelligent. If that setup is comfortable and works for him, that's great. It's not how I would have my kit set up, but hey that's just me. You could always try moving...

Re: Some good songs to practice too for a beginner?

Fortunate Son by CCR was the first song that I learned, I think. It will get you used to the basic 4/4 rock beat, while introducing you to some fills.

Re: Practice- To book or not to book

Well, I think practice methods are going to vary greatly from one drummer to another. I think books are probably the best way to start off, to get yourself a foundation going, but after that, it's...

Re: Pirating, us and the future.

One thing I will say is this: The number of downloads are not an accurate representation of what your sales could have been. In fact, I think it would be safe to say that most of the people that...

Not your average drummer

What a great guy http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/van/muc/1652177513.html I should add that this certainly isn't me. I just found the ad and thought this guy could possibly be the most pretentious...

Re: Famous left handed drummers

Well, I play on a right handed kit, but I am a lefty. It's a little awkward to play 16th notes on the hi-hats, because I want to lead with my left, meaning my left hand has to tuck under my right to...

Re: Switching from rock to other styles

I don't really think that's the case, at least, not for me. I mean, anyone can play any style if they enjoy it, and practice it. There's no reason for people not to be able to master many different...

Re: tom angles!!!!

Silversun Pickups. They are touring with Muse. I don't really like them, but I'm seeing Muse in two weeks. His cymbal is going to annoy me for the entire opening act.

Re: tom angles!!!!

Haha. Oh, indie bands. Although, I must say I'm kind of digging those purple acrylic drums.
