Re: Selling my kit, need help with the $

Go on ebay. In the search bar at the top, click on "advanced search." On that page, type in "pearl export" for the keywords, select the category "musical instruments" and check the box below that...

Re: Ludwig Black Beauty vs. Supra-Phonic

Can you describe the sonic differences between the regular and hammered BB?

Re: tom angles!!!!

I think this might be the first time I've seen a tom mounted higher than the crash cymbal (and that cymbal's mounted pretty high).

Re: Brian Downey of Thin Lizzy

Yeah, he played great shuffles on some of those Lizzy songs.

Re: Serial #'s on Cymbals and Kit

Good idea. I'm thinking I can just save it in a folder in my web-based email account, then I can access it from anywhere.

Dang, this totally makes sense, but it's yet another thing to put on my to-do list. OK, I'm going to do it right now.

Re: Considering Leaving the Band

Thanks for the support y'all. Maybe I should have mentioned that the singer is married to the keyboard player, and they started the band. So, there would be no ousting of the singer. Anyway, I...

Re: Considering Leaving the Band

Thanks for your responses so far.

caddywumpus: Yes, I am definitely focusing on the negative right now. There are positives: the other band members are great, I am gigging on a fairly regular...

Considering Leaving the Band

I've just come off a very poor performance last night, and it has me thinking about leaving my band. There were some things that made it a bit challenging: I was playing an unfamiliar kit (from the...

Re: Turning the tables

I saw a show where the drummer's kit was at the front of the stage, but set up sideways on the far left side. It was great because the audience could see him quite well, but he wasn't...

Re: members getting banned

[/quote]
I believe a two week "cooling off period" would be more effective. If someone is just "warned" they may still be torqued up about whatever argument they are in, and continue breaking the...

Re: members getting banned

I think a two week suspension for the first offense would be fair, then banning for a repeat offender.

Re: tom angles!!!!

Here's a kit that actually necessitates extreme tom angles. The seller says the mounted toms are 14x13 and 15x14! If they were mounted flatter, they'd be impossible to play without standing up.

Re: tom angles!!!!

Someone must have long arms in order to reach that small tom...or maybe they just throw the sticks at it.

Re: Decent enough in Rock band to be good at drums?

I think the game can help develop limb independence and sense of timing. I don't think it compares equally to real drums, but I do think it would make a good springboard.

Re: tom angles!!!!

Wow, that was a serious throwback. I never did get why he left Maiden, but that was a helluva gig to walk away from. The thing I noticed most was how he was playing the hats: really hitting the...

Re: Anybody else play with socks/bare feet?

I feel best and play best barefooted. However, lately I have been forcing myself to play in shoes just to make it easier for gigs.

Re: 6 years of playing - have i lost my way?

I don't have any advice to offer, but I can relate. I've been playing far longer than six years, and people compliment me on my drumming, but I am often very unsatisfied with my playing ability. ...

Re: BRADY - New 2009 Products & NAMM Report

You can never go wrong with a disco ball. If I were anywhere near New York, I'd loan it to you, but I'm on the west coast. Shouldn't be hard to find one in NYC though. After all, it was the...
