Re: More Creative on a Smaller Kit

I like juggling :)

Excellent points all around and yes, I suppose that of course a person can give a creative reaction to stimuli.

As for the question of whose mind is the creativity in, what a...

Re: More Creative on a Smaller Kit

It wasn't prior to this post. I was the one that went closet to that flame by stating reasons jazz and me don't get on and for that I apologize.

OT, IMO, the kit and creativity are mutually...

Re: Not doing a gig because of the venue

My imagination is conjuring a scene where people were throwing salad at your band. I hope it didn't go down like that lol.

I walked out of a gig before even setting up once. The guy who hired me...

Just because something is called a business doesn't give it a license to ignore morality.

Re: THE AMBIDEXTROUS THREAD

I went to school with a girl named Ann B. Dextrous.

Not really haga.

I'm right handed but wanted equality, not to be ambidextrous necessarily, I just want equal capability. Lopsided rolls...

Re: More Creative on a Smaller Kit

People gravitate to music that speaks to them. Like I figured out the individual elements of jazz that don't speak to me. Most songs have no lyrics, and I really like lyrics, they're huge to me. Also...

Re: More Creative on a Smaller Kit

OK so this sheds light. So in a way, we are both playing off the others. Being's I don't really speak the language of jazz, it seems to me that the players....at times....to me....it seems like they...

Re: More Creative on a Smaller Kit

What you said is dead on Ant. Jazz canvas is enormous. I wouldn't know where to start.

You raised another point I want to explore. You mentioned metric modulation.

I have to ask, in jazz, when...

Re: More Creative on a Smaller Kit

Some of what you said influenced my thoughts for sure Ant. And just for the record, I am in agreement with nearly everything you said. I guess the one thing that I don't quite see eye to eye was is...

Re: Annoying Sounds

Annoyed no, I would be walking through life always annoyed if that were the case.

I like to accept myself the way I am, I'm fine like this and don't postpone happiness because I can't do...

Re: More Creative on a Smaller Kit

Great discussion.

I don't buy into the notion that backbeat music doesn't have the capacity for creativity that say jazz does. I do believe that there's more total time spent exercising creativity...

Re: NFL Asks Musicians for Money to Play Super Bowl Read more: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/ne

Really, why stop at the musicians? The announcers career is no doubt fortified by working the SuperBowl, they should pay to work too. And the football players. Their career is going to be fortified...

Re: More Creative on a Smaller Kit

Speaking about reading, just last night, I finally started reading "The Inner Game of Tennis" you recommended. I bought it like a year ago lol.

Yea that's a page turner lol.

Re: I Want to Gig!

One thing I've noticed...no matter what level a player is at...if they are out there, meaning not online, real face time at local jams, most people end up playing with someone. The key is to be out...

Re: More Creative on a Smaller Kit

Great post. It brings up a lot of questions. Clearly, creativity means different things to different people. We are all debating something that has no universally accepted definition. So naturally we...

Re: Will un-even bearing edges bend hoops?

A bent hoop is a trashed hoop in my house. A round and true hoop is more important to a pure tone than is given credit for. Everyone mentions bearing edges, but hoops are a big part of the equation....

Re: Does anyone actually like big finales?

On the songs it fits, definitely like them. Not every song though. The ability to do a great finale ending is not the easiest thing. I like when drummers overplay during the song, and when it comes...

Re: Tell me if this is a stupid idea

It feels good to lash out right? So please, don't restrain yourselves from saying... in great detail if desired... how and why it's so stupid. Let's see who can be the meanest. Get personal, I won't...

Re: Not doing a gig because of the venue

I've never even heard of bars paying beforehand. Parties, yea, but never a bar. Sounds like a good guy with a bar that has questionable clientele.

Re: More Creative on a Smaller Kit

Genius. No one does it like Watso.

You should be on TV. So instead of listening to you, I could turn you off!

JK, you slay me man.
