Re: NFL Asks Musicians for Money to Play Super Bowl Read more: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/ne

From what I understand (and I may be wrong) being required to pay to play is hardly a new concept. At least in NYC and some other large cities.

Re: Syncopated Rolls, Jim Blackley - Help needed

I have this book and worked through it. It's been a long while so I'll need to re-look at it in reference to your questions.

There are a handful of posters here who have been through this...

Re: More Creative on a Smaller Kit

At the end of the day we are all here to create music. If you find it helpful to have 60 pieces to make that happen - use 60 pieces. If you find you can do it with 4 - use 4.

So many legends...

Re: Post your Zoom Q3 recordings :)

I'm sure you've posted stuff like this on other various clips, but I think it's the first time I've heard the drums tuned up the way I like them best as demonstrated in the first clip.

Nicely...

Re: Always sounding bad when practicing

Practice is supposed to be about working on stuff we're struggling with or are trying to perfect.

Playing is when you will hopefully sound good.

If all you are doing is sounding good - then...

I was just recently away for 3 weeks due to travel and am heading into another 2 week stretch doing even more.

I bring nothing at all other than the songs I want to listen to on a player. The...

Thank you for sharing these unique experiences with us. Not sure anyone else can do that on here.

Many great suggestions and people here I'm sure will offer even more. Glad you find mine helpful as well.

Yes, you'll be playing "1" each time. Everything - including the "1" needs to be...

Re: Professional responsibility

Completely agree.

I may be wrong but it seems to me that things seem to be moving at warp speed in terms of new approaches, etc.... That probably has to do with more on-line presence and...

Re: Multiple Kit Owners, Show Your Favorite Kit

Easy for me...

Though, I'd swap the matching snare to the one I had built for my daughter.

Re: My sense of time and accuracy sucks. How to practice?

Re: Professional responsibility

Yes. I think it's important as a teacher who is teaching a wide array of age ranges and styles to stay current with methods and players within the style they target to teach.

Speaking from...

I'm not a collector but I do have 4 sets - all of which are Gretsch.

Each are a different line - 3 happen to be the same "general" color (satin maple) and the same size's (traditional 18" bop kit...

Re: Middle finger as pivot point for stick?!

I studied with a Classical Percussionist from 1984-1986 where we worked elusively on hands (and mallets).

She had me shift my fulcrum to the middle finger and I've never looked back. Made...
