Re: Just saw "The Wrecking Crew" movie

I just saw it too. I didn't even know it was going to be on, I just stumbled upon it. I've been wanting to see it for a while.

And wow, kudos to the crew behind the move to actually get Cher,...

Re: Painting a bass drum reso head?

Not the best logo, but it was paint on a smooth black head.

It held up to countless gigs in the mid to late 90's.

Heck, I still have the head today.

Re: Painting a bass drum reso head?

It's possible.

In one of my bands, the singer's roommate painted my front head. I'm not sure what paint she used, but it held up.

If you start with a coated head, I think just about any paint...

Re: "The World's Greatest Drummer is Louis Bellson"

In the late 80's, the store I was working at (Drum World in San Francisco) hosted a drum clinic with Terry Bozzio and Louie Bellson. So I got to work with him and see him up close.

A few years...

Re: Louis Bellonís Modern Drummer Ad Consent Letter

Louie Bellson was a class act.

I feel very lucky to have met him a few times before he passed away.

Re: Joe Wong: How Do Drummers Navigate Through Life?

Some of it was the same ole' questions.

Some of it was nice, he dug a little deeper where other interviewers don't.

I wish the interviews weren't so edited down. So many of the podcasts seem...

Re: Drumming dreams

I swear there was a thread on this already.

But I can't find it now. Maybe it was just a dream.

But to the question: Yes, many, many times.

Re: News from the UK premier fans FB page

I don't think the Signia are any heavier than the average drum set.
The shells are thin maple.
I've done countless gigs over the years with my Signia's.

I'd say the only reason my Signia...

Re: News from the UK premier fans FB page

Not surprising. Their showings at NAMM over the last 10 years have been anywhere from not at all to half hearted booths.

A real shame as in the early 90's they were kicking other companies rear...

Re: Where's all the gear?

Export was (and perhaps still is) the top selling drum kit in the world for many, many years.

Exports, Swingstar/Rockstars, and such far, far, far outsell high end kits in terms of number of...

Re: Why Musicians DON'T Deserve to Get Paid

ROTFL.....

That really is an accurate description of too many bands.

Re: Ian Paice rocks!!!

I saw Deep Purple in the mid 90's. Excellent show.

I knew Ian Paice was a good drummer, but seeing him live really took my appreciation of him to a new level.

Re: Where's all the gear?

Cymbals, I get. Cymbals break. Cymbals are easy to store. Drummers can and will horde cymbals.

Drums, I wonder too.

I just think of all the Pearl Exports and such I sold over the years, and...

Re: Smaller Drums In Front Of The Kick Drum???

Yes, a sub kick.

http://usa.yamaha.com/products/musical-instruments/drums/accessories/lowfreq/skrm-100sfv/

Allows more low end frequencies to be picked up, which is mixed with the regular bass...

Re: Boy, I am having a difficult time starting a new project.

Pretty much.

Heck, it may even be more difficult.

I met my wife 17 years ago. I've gone through several bands, and numerous band members in the same time period.

Find the right band...

Re: Are 20" Bass Drums Easier To Play On Than 22"

While it depends a head selection and tuning, in general, smaller drums are easier to bounce the stick/beater off of than a bigger drum.

I had the same experience as you; I sat down behind a...

Which is probably why I don't bother anymore.

Re: Tom Sizes

I had a buddy who had a DW kit that was 8, 10 and 16 toms.

His band was signed to Warner Brothers for a brief stint in the early 90's.

This kit seen in the video is not his, but the recording...

Re: Drumming and tennis

I'd suspect Charlie Watts, and a few others do well for themselves.

It's only a small fraction all the drummers who do.

But then again, in tennis, it's only small fraction of all players who...

Re: Remo drums

They stopped because it was rare for anyone to ever buy one.

In all my years of working in drum shops, I can only think of two Remo sales: One Bozzio kit, sold at a Bozzio clinic in 90/91, right...
