Re: Bass drum technique

I can't tell from the camera angle exactly what you're doing. I've been working on continuous release (not doubles though) for a few yr. and I'm just now getting close to being able to use it in real...

Re: First Drum Covers - help needed

I think you should record your playing without any other music. You may get more responses about what your sound needs. It's hard to tell what your kit sounds like, when there are drums in the music,...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

My latest acquisition was a couple of months ago. An 18" Zildjian K dark med. thin crash. I like the way it sounds at the low vol. rehearsals we have. Someday we're gonna gig some where an I'll get...

Re: Ludwig Standard bass pedal?

yes. I think he must be confusing the speed king with another pedal. They don't look anything alike.

Re: Ludwig Standard bass pedal?

I'm not up to par on it's worth, only it wouldn't be worth much to me. It's completely different than the speed king. The speed king is a compression spring( When you push down on the pedal it pushes...

Re: 20 vs 22 kick?

I don't think anybody's said that they are the same pitch, or tone. When I said mine were identical, I meant the same kind of drums and construction. They're both Yamy BACN. As far as beater...

Re: 20 vs 22 kick?

I've got 18x20 and 18x22 both are identical except for the size. I just recently started using the 20. It sounds good, not quite as much of a low tone as the 22, and maybe a touch quieter. I've not...

Re: Ludwig Supraphonic Like You've Probably Never Seen Before...

Love it! Congratulations on your new family member. Kids are even more precious than a good Supra.

Re: Novak moves to Sakae.

I bought my 1st yamies in 88, power tour customs. I liked the drums, but I remember being influenced strongly by how many pro players were using yamies in modern drummer mag.

Re: I'm getting into this now

I've been working on this stuff for yrs. and nowhere close to those guys. To me it's no different than what I see some of the Jazz guys doing with their hands, only with their feet. I can't do...

Re: My timing is poor after all...

If your tempo was 100% you would not sound like a drummer. You would sound like a machine. Music needs to breath and flow. The click is good to play with, but we don't play each note perfectly with...

Re: Are bud Headphones good enough to protect hearing?

I have a pair of E.A.R. safety approved ear buds. The work just like ear plugs, with music piped in. They don't go over 82 decibels. They are great. My drums sound good and I can hear the music I'm...

Re: Decal sticker removal from bass drum head??

I googled glue removal the other day. One of the ways is vinegar, WD-40 is another.

Re: Peace DNA Maple Kit, $299

I'm sure you've got a great kit. I've seen several adds in mags of, I'll say simi famous drummers using Peace drums. Switchfoot is a band I like that has used them. I think he's with Ludwig now. If...

Re: Finally bought a kit after insane debating....

Man that's a sweet kit, congratulations. I've always been partial the the performers. I don't own any, but I sure like them. I bet you'll be happy with them. I'm happy for you.

Re: How would this sound to you guys?

That's totally up to you. If it sounds good, then do it. Recently I took a Omni back to the store and traded it for a K. I tried to pair it with a 20" Sabian ISO crash. I loved the Omni but it didn't...

Re: A few photos of my newly acquired 1969 Ludwig Gold Strata Standards

Boy do those bring back some memories. I had a 5pc.kit just like those from 72 to 84. I would appreciate them more now. Nice kit.

Re: Yamaha Drums

+1 on that one. I've had a 5 Pc. Power Tour Custom kit sense 1988 They are great drums. I can't tell any difference in sound quality between those and my BCA's.

Re: Yamaha Drums

I feel your pain. I've got BCAN'S. Yamaha does that so they keep their tunning better, but I don't like it. I've always put my heads on, and tuned up the way you discribed. After 30+ yr. when I put a...

Re: Mix question. Do you think drums are mixed well?

The only thing I would change is, to bring up the ride/bell in the mix. I liked the snare roll around the 250 mark. I guess it was the way you applied it. I really like the music over all. Good song.
