Re: GRETSCH DRUMS

I'm more impressed with mine everyday. Sound good in a wide range of tuning, and very easy to tune at that. Two words, Remo Ambassidors.

Re: Question about depth

I'm not sure if I agree with the first part, but added depth definitely makes a drum sound bigger.

I've always thought that when you add depth to a drum it is generally less responsive, and...

Re: Can you reccomend me some albums with Colaiuta?

I highly recomend you check out Oz Noy's (http://www.myspace.com/oznoy) latest album "Fuzzy". I got my copy off of iTunes.

Vinnie plays on 5 of the tracks. Each one progressively sicker. Keith...

Re: Head choice for piccolo snare

A Coated Ambassidor over a Hazy Ambasidor would probably melt your face. In a good/loud way.

Re: problems tuning my new Ludwig set

Welcome to the forum!

I'd like to add that while Power Stroke 3 heads will give you a fat sound, they also cut almost all the overtones. I would start with some ambassidors, which will be the open...

Re: PDP drum opinions

I have sold and played both. I believe that at their mid-level price point there is not too much difference in the shells, but rather in the drums (and hardwares) features. I have however seen quite...

Re: What's inside your Kick drum?

A buddy of mine tipped me on this. Simple and cheap:

Cut some some carpet padding to fit in the bottom of your bass drum when folded in half. Leave a little overlap on one of the pieces to touch...

Re: lets see some kist with wood hoops!

I have more pics too, but figured that would suffice. Jody is a great guy. He deserves as much business as possible, although he's been doing pretty well...

Great product for all those thinking...

Re: lets see some kist with wood hoops!

Yeah used to have a kit with wood hoops, sold it though.

It was a nice set, but I had to sell it to play for a new kit. It will be...

Re: Coffee shop drum kit

I keep a smaller drum kit for this kind of thing. Just an 18x16 kick, 8x12, 14x14 toms, and 5.5x14 snare. You can pretty much play whatever, softly though. You just dont want a 24" kick or terry...

Re: Snare Drum like Stanton Moore

I believe its always a combination of the top and bottom head tuning, but I've found that if you keep your resonant head a little lower in pitch then the batter head then the sound will be fatter or...

Re: New drums with old specs? ...

Check out USA Gretsch Drums. They are expensive, but it's because they are built to very high standards by very exacting people. The factory is large, but only staff by a few very experienced and...

Re: Is it possible that Swing could be revived?

A lot of friends I have are way too cool to dance to real music. In fact they try and act way too cool about a lot of things... It sucks. Thats why so much rap is so ego centered, everyone is so much...

Re: Hi hat keeping time

I usually tap my heel when playing the hi-hat closed and tap the hi-hat pedal when plying the ride. I learned about this after watching Neil Peart's first DVD and practiced using it. I usually tap...

Re: 13" snare versus the 14" snare

I have both, and between a 13" and a 14", I prefer 13". I like the feel of a 13" drum, i can't explain it other then i like the way this tunes and feels, and the slightly more drum sound. (14" sound...

Re: BB

I actually sometime play with their old touring bass player, Eric Moore. He lives here in Savannah now and playing in several bands, on top of his own "Voodoo Soup".
