Re: Drums + College?

Not concerned about practicing; my campus has a kit that we can use, but just can't take off campus.

More concerned about when people put postings up (i.e. craigslist) for jams/rehearsals... not...

Re: Drums + College?

Not in music school, haha. I also forgot to mention that my kit is 6 hours (by car) away from my school.

The school has a communal kit for practice but I can't take it anywhere off campus.

Drums + College?

Hey guys, I'm starting to get adjusted to the college life, and had a few questions about how to go about band rehearsals and other scenarios.

Since I can't exactly fit my own drum kit (plus it'd...

Re: What's your favorite sounding rock snare recording?

Hm.

-Another vote for Pearl Jam's "Ten".

-Bonham.

-Jimmy's sound on "Geek U.S.A." on Siamese Dream. Most of the SP tracks have good snare sounds, really...

-I will shamelessly say Vanessa...

Well, it's decided: Going to Boston College. lol

-If I'm reading the website correctly, they have quite a few practice rooms available, however it seems that they only house pianos and not drum...

Re: Drums in college?

That sounds logical.. I guess I'll have to gig on house kits or borrow one =P
Who are the best companies to go to for e-kits though? I hear Roland being tossed around quite a bit here.

Drums in college?

So starting next September, college season starts. I know for certain that noise and space are concerns (hello, dorm rooms). There's a good chance that I will be in either NY or Boston for college,...

Re: Does My drumming technique look good?

The real drum track will never waver in tempo. EVER. Usually when you watch a recorded video 1-2 days afterwards you can hear it.

If the song itself were going under acc/rall then it'd be quite...

Re: Lion Dance Drum Feature Help

Yeah, which is why I'm having trouble thinking of stuff =/

They've given me creative license, though, so I can basically do anything I want.
Just that I'm not sure what I can do.

Re: $2000 for a new kit, HELP!

If this is your first drum kit, go easy on the drums themselves and save room (about half) for cymbals. With the right heads and tuning, less expensive drums can sound amazing (especially Yam. Stage...

Re: American made drums

If we're counting custom drums, C&C and Craviotto are American-made.

My sticks tend to last 2-3 weeks before the first signs of the symptoms (4 if I'm lucky)

Breaking Sticks

I seem to be rendering many of my sticks virtually useless... but I'm not splitting these things in half or anything. I usually use a lot of rimshots in my playing so I'm thinking it must be because...

Re: What snare?

If brass is your thing, check out the Pork Pie Big Black Brass Snare 6.5x14. I own one and frankly am in love with it. Very versatile in my opinion.
