Re: Things you hate to have happen while drumming

Bass drum creap is the most annoying. It happened one time on CARPET!!! I figured I wouldn't need my official drum rug because the stage was carpeted, but my kick was inching forward. So was my left...

Re: Double Bass Drum Futility

Thanks everyone. I am counting the BPMs correctly. The video of me using the floating technique was just me showing one of the techniques I am trying. I do not play death metal and, quite frankly, my...

Re: Double Bass Drum Futility

Ya, if I had known it'd be such a long, arduous task to get good at, I probably wouldn't have bothered. It's not my style, either. I play classic rock. It just bugs me that others can do it so...

Re: Double Bass Drum Futility

that's a good point. Maybe I'm holding the beater too long on the head?? I'll have to look closer at that, thanks, Larry.

Re: Double Bass Drum Futility

Actually, now that I think about it, I never really told you guys where I'm failing. I'm not looking to do 200 BPMs or anything like that. I'm actually crapping out at 120 BPMs. some days I can hit...

Re: Double Bass Drum Futility

thanks, Mil. I use Tama Iron Cobras on my Grestch and Pearl Elims on my Rolands. I've been messing with tension as you have said, and I'm not really sure what I like best. Loose tension is tough when...

Re: Double Bass Drum Futility

Thanks, pgm. Too funny, I clicked the first link, and I noticed the President, Anthony Casucio. I went to high school with him....he lives 2 streets away....too funny.

Re: Double Bass Drum Futility

thanks guys. Beyond, I don't play heel down. the V-drums video shows me using a floating method that I had seen on Youtube. And, I probably practice it a half hour a day, I guess.

I play heel up...

Re: Double Bass Drum Futility

Thanks guys,

Here is me a few months ago using the "floating something", sorry I forgot the name. It kind of works, hurts my Achilles like heck. But I cant always do it. And it requires a...

Re: Double Bass Drum Futility

Thanks guys. It' s not even as though I play metal anyway. But, whenever I see a band play, the drummer, at the end of a song, throws in these fast double bass rolls along with cymbal washes. it...

Double Bass Drum Futility

9 years and counting. That's how long I've spent trying to get fast double bass drumming. And I'm still no good. I understand that there are no shortcuts, but I'm not taking a short cut....

Any...

Re: My New Studio Setup Look at the floor space

You can play it like this? Your floor tom isn't in your way? I also have a GibraltarStealth rack for my Gretsch kit. It's ok, but I have a hard time gigging with it. Too many variables to layout, no...

Re: Best drum music notation software

+1 for guitar pro. that's what I use. It's easy and there's a lot of cool features. Not free, though.

Re: Led Zep Vs Spirit issue

A few of these are reaches, I think. Communication Breakdown was way different, and I disagree with How many more times. We need to separate plagiarism and influence. Being a Zep fan, I'm going to...

Re: Led Zep Vs Spirit issue

Does anyone know the actual chords being played on both? Aren't they different? The guitar sounds similar, of course, but I think the notes are not the same. Bear in mind, I don't have a clue about...

Re: Todd Sucherman here!

Todd, are you touring with Styx this summer? If so, I will finally be able to see you in Western New York at Artpark August 19th. If you've never been there, it's fantastic. A beautiful park, you...

Re: Brain Fart :-)

Too funny. I have "been there, done that" as well. I have also counted into the wrong song. I thought I was counting us into "Use Somebody", but eveyone else was playing "Proud Mary". On the...

Re: Bar bands, what's more important...

I would probably say B. Not because it's right, per se, but if I have an off night, and the people enjoyed it anyway , I would still be bothered by it for days....

Although, I would take either...

Re: How did Keith Moon play?

I'm 46. Keith Moon was a bit before me, but not much. I grew up thinking he was good. It wasn't really until my mid 30s, when I began playing Who cover tunes, when I realized how bad he seemed. I...

Re: Single stroke 16th >150bpm

Hey Bob, get one of these. It's a great way to build rolls, and a lot of fun to see how fast you can go! Plus, you can track your progress. I have one, and it vastly helped me out. Kinda pricey, but...
