Re: Not doing a gig because of the venue

Re: Not doing a gig because of the venue

Sounds like the Water Rats to me.

EDIT: Damn, beaten to it.

Had a very bad experience a couple of years ago at a reasonably famous gig venue in Kentish Town named after a farmyard animal that...

Re: Does anyone actually like big finales?

I absolutely hate them. I've watched a lot of gigs (old and new) that have the 'grand finale' and it's just boring. To me, at least. A couple of years ago I was watching Neil Young and his band...

Re: Playing Out for the First Time in 40 Years!

I've been wanting to play 'Red' live for years. What a fantastic choice! I'm glad you had a great time. It's funny. After a while you don't miss playing live and then it takes one moment of...

Re: Which is/was heavier - Sonor Designer or Yamaha RC?

The bass drum tom mount on the Designers is a huge bit of metalwork. I suspect that may be the difference between the kits. I haven't directly compared the weights so it's only a speculative guess...

Re: Ringo should have performed at Candlestick Park not just Paul

I like Octopus's Garden.

Re: Weird symptoms before a show

I was wondering how long it would take before somebody mentioned 'flow'. It's a really good thing to do if you're finding yourself in a situation where you're feeling anxiety. A 'flow' activity is...

Re: Weird symptoms before a show

As somebody with a lot of anxiety triggers for a number of years, I can assure you that once you know what the triggers are, you can control them better. I went a long time before I recognised that...

Re: Weird symptoms before a show

It tends to reduce with exposure. The more gigs you do that go well, the less it'll happen (probably) but even experienced performers get anxious before a show, it's about controlling that nervous...

Re: Weird symptoms before a show

It's your body preparing itself for action. Under stress, the human body can undergo a number of physical symptoms, including a dry mouth, stomach pains, nausea, a faster heart rate, sweating, etc. ...

Re: Weird symptoms before a show

It's an anxiety response called the 'flight or fight response'. Very natural.

Re: Strange woman found lurking in the workshop ;)

Madge has spent years honing her smile as a way to lull the unsuspecting into a false sense of security.

Seriously though, looks like a lovely time. Andy, I'll say it again, you're a stand up...

Re: Usiing An Electronic Kit With Addictive Drums For Live Performances

Latency on modern hardware is much less of a problem than it once was. It's just a case of having enough RAM and processing power - which pretty much anything can do. To be honest, your best bet...

Re: What do you think of GetSticks.de?

It's hardly dishonourable for a member with a long history to promote a business he has started.
