Aluminum doesn't rust, but it does corrode, and it can have issues with chrome plating over time flaking off or pitting....

Don't think its a resonator, as you can see hardware on the inside of the shell, and resonators didn't show any hardware on the inside...nice kit nonetheless...

Agreed!... Kickport definitely made a difference on my kick drums. Also, I do not put anything in my kick drums (muffling-wise), just use EMAD ...

Hey mike ... It looks like your snare probably was left in an environment where humidity got to it and started the tarnishing (shell) and corrosion (hoops) process.... You could possibly try...

Really nice kit drummaman1! The church I play for has a black shadow sunburst kit... Very easy to tune and one of the better kicks I've ever played...

Agreed!... Had a 1962 Ludwig super sensitive COB that would de-tune every time I played it because of the looseness of the lugs...never really had to worry about this on my Yamaha's ....

The first signature snare was the 14X4 Peter Erskine (piccolo) snare. It was limited to 750 snares (numbered) and came out in the late 80's....by the mid-to-late 90's there were approx. 20-30.......

I think if the finish was cherrywood, then cherrywood (satin) was used on the interior, regardless of wood type on 1st gen. Absolutes....but I could be mistaken...

That is correct...1st gen. Absolutes had it, 2nd gen. (2003-4) and on did not...
