Wildbill I wouldn't worry too much about the nouveau lugs, I've had my nouveau kit for over 7 yrs.....never had any issues with the lugs...the only ones that had issues were the synthetic lugs on the...

Thanks Reggae! ...I've spent the last 6-7 yrs. building my collection...still have more that I'd like to purchase... A Brady she-oak comes to mind.. ... As well as maybe a Guru..;)

Thanks wildbill!... As far as I know "soared copper" is a term exclusive to JN...they have a few...

Thanks!! Yea, both of those snares are probably my favs....although I really like all of them...lol...the JN is a soared copper and may be the best snare I've ever owned..just a beautiful to look at...

Thanks lefty2!.... Yes, there's a vintage steel parallel action snare from the 79-81 time period...actually purchased it new about 1.5 yrs ago...leftover stock from a store liquidation...

You need to re-read what I wrote.:)..I never wrote that the nouveau lug was self-aligning ... I stated that the hook lug was self aligning (by design), which makes it a better overall design..."both...

The one difference between the hook and the nouveau lug is the hook has a self aligning feature (based on the hook shape), which IMO makes it an overall better design .. Both are nice though...

Raw material cost in the higher tier lines is definitely higher...the wood is just a higher quality material...also, higher cost used to be attributed to "made in Japan" (I.e., labor cost)... Not...

They came out in 2003-2008...hook lugs replaced the nouveau lugs in 2008....how do you like the nouveau lugs? ... I really like them on my MCAN ...makes changing heads a breeze... Do like the look of...

I have to agree... Aluminum snares to my ears sounds better/fuller in 6.5" depth than they do in shallower depths...

Hmmm... Then I question the accuracy of the picture in the earlier post.... Also 1st gen. BCA interior at least on cherrywood ext. finished drums is cherrywood on the inside also (matte), so not too...

Yep those are the nouveau lugged newer series (2nd.gen.) BCA's, so they will have alum. D/C hoops, non-stained interiors (original BCA had matching cherrywood int.), D/C bass drum claws, screw-on...

If you like the live sound of brass snares, I think you would really like the yamaha brass....the only yamaha metal snare I might like better would be the seamless copper...(emphasis on might)......

Yea..that's the last seamless brass snare line that yamaha produced ... I've got one in 6.5X14...great snare...I believe they were produced from mid 90's until 2003...based on the strainer design...

That's my favorite PHX finish....I may have to sell my BCA to get it, but hopefully one day I'll own a PHX kit in that finish....
