Re: Drum store being sued

What's the difference between a lawyer and a catfish? One's a bottom-feeding scum sucker, the other's just a fish...

Re: Drum store being sued

I'd love it if the drum shop turn up to court with some loud objects to demonstrate how they can't cause chronic tinnitus...

Re: Drum store being sued

Perhaps she could have bought the earplugs more quickly?

Yeah, no chance of this one sticking. Larger cymbals aren't inherently louder and six feet might leave you with a bit of a ring but it's...

Re: Visualizing rhythm ... absolutely brilliant

I wonder if I can create a sequencer that can compose rhythms using this idea...

Re: What is this triplet thing called?

At least it's only a stick he's poking it with. I would expect a character of his magnitude to poke it with something far more oblique...

Re: I suck at power ballads.

The second guitar solo I ever learned was the solo to 'Mother'. It's quite a piece of work, that one. Most power ballads suck but when they're good, they're really good.

Re: New Guru "Tour" series kits - details here first :)

If past performance is an indicator of future sound (it is!), these will be spectacular.

Re: What is this triplet thing called?

Nothing stupid about asking a genuine question! In fact, fair play for having the sense to ask it!

Re: How do you guys practice?

Provided it's not ripping artists off, you can get tracks from wherever you like.

Re: Is Tama a Bad Company?

I'm with Just James. Not going to answer any of your questions since you decided to try and lead us all down the garden path last time.

Re: How do you guys practice?

I entirely agree. As much as I take issue with various elements of the economy, somebody has put time and effort into creating those tracks. If they choose to release them for free, that's great...

Re: What is this triplet thing called?

Straightforward triplets as far as I can tell. One trip-let, two trip-let.

Re: Drum tab

Absolutely!

I remember taking Classical singing lessons a long time ago. Some of the pieces were written to be sung through twice (usually Baroque pieces). The first time you would sing it...

Re: Drum tab

If there isn't software that transcribes as you play to notation (using a MIDI-compatible kit), I would be extraordinarily surprised.

Re: Drum tab

I've seen a few very good guitarists use tab but the ones that are really good use their ear, notation or combinations therein. I would suggest that most guitarists these days can read tab but most...

...and add to the fact that rhythmic notation in tabs is inherently very flawed. Honestly, I'd be looking at learning drum notation. It's much more flexible and accurate and you can more easily...

Re: Cajons for dummers? Scandalous?

It's all good. I'm just 'that guy'.

Cajons are ok. They're not a 'substitute' but they are very forgiving, easy to learn, easy to transport and cover the basic sounds that we expect. I've seen...
